BECAUSE IT COSTS TOO HIGH AND HAS NOTHING WITH IT BESIDES THE OS (is JUST an OS worth 300 USD?)!!!

Costs to high? It's Microsoft man, nothing costs to much for them. If they were so worried about people using "cracked" copies of there software, why would they have not used it in 1.0, 3.1, 95, 98, ME, 2000, XP, and all of the other software etc? Being one of those "hardcore warez people" you mentioned about since the mid 90's, I know quite abit abou this subject.

Umm.. There will come a date when everyone running a cracked version of Windows XP will be severely ed. It will only come once the next release of Windows comes out and has been around for at least a year.

Microsoft knows full well of each and every legitimate Product Key sent out from their factory, while a crack may fit the algorithm of the product that doesn't mean you're safe. All it takes is your next visit to Windows Update for them to check your Product Key against their master list - if that Key was not shipped out from the factory then, guess what, your windows is now deactivated along with any access to your files -- and for the VAST majority of users this would be utter chaos. They'd be forced to call MS with a credit card and pay a certain amount and get their OS re-enabled - OR - buy the new WIndows OS and it would have something built-in to renable your XP and/or upgrade it to the new OS.

Mark my words, it will happen.

Sure, that [b]may[b] happen or already is happening but, like most things, it will be"evaded" as always. Now, I'm going to eat some pizza :D

Yeah I think all he's saying is a bunch of idiots out there who don't understand how the XP crack works are gonna end up getting ed because they don't see it coming.
Blue.
Bla bla bla. Give it a few months and it'll be cracked

Considering I had windows XP pro (which was supposed to be very hard to copy) months before it was released I have little faith in Microsoft.

EDIT: Btw buddy do you know anything about Linux cus I need some help. :D

Oh, I didn't know that you release other things besides music. I take that sentence back about all of you doing it for the money. I was talking about the people who make "bootlegs" of things JUST to sell.

About Linux, IM or e-mail me about it. If I don't know what you need, I know people who have extensive knowledge about UNIX/Linux.

if they can encode it someone can decode it. simply as that :D

the music industry is scary stuff these days, they are taking this way to seriously, they're making MP3's out to be something of the scale of the war on drugs. The war on music trading, which is ironic, since blank tapes were used to copy music for decades.

Yep, and they're going to have just about as much success. :p

The reason it didn't happen before is because you WANT people to pirate your stuff so you have the market penetration to the point where it is so integrated into your work/office/home environment that you have no choice but to go the microsoft route. Enter online connectivity and its gradual increase and you have a means of tracking usage of your product (OS) as customers/pirates use it - the reason I mentioned 1 year into the next release of Windows is because by then all the die hards would have already upgraded and publicity regarding its deployment would already be down. A hit like that would cause widespread panic and be all over the media giving them what they want - you to actually buy the product.

Remember, I'm talking about the vast majority of people who have little or no technical knowledge - sure you could backup your system and do all that stuff but the average joe has no clue beyond burning a CD.

The problem with CD's, Movies, and windows is that the price is just so inflated that noone wants to buy them. Did you know that microsoft loses money in every one of its many many departments besides OS sales?. The Xbox, software, mice, joysticks and racing wheels, everything else that microsoft does they lose money on. They are reaping in the profits off windows alone.

Oh well. I dont buy many CD's any more, because a lot of them to me arent worth $22. Although I highly reccomend the Global Underground series, I bought Dave Seaman's Melbourne CD on a whim (only like the third CD ive bought in 3 years) and it was worth every penny. While the price was still inflated, this CD reminded me why I still want to buy good music and support good artists. Most RIAA pop e sells for 1 CD of 2 or 3 good tracks and the rest just empty filler tracks for like $20. The Global Undergrounds are the same price (probably because of importing them), but you get two fully mixed CD's, great cover art, and a great little booklet that tells you the story of this particular mix, complete with pictures. I plan on buying more of them (after I download and listen to them first of course).

The other thing about the RIAA is, that file sharing HELPS them more than it hurts them. Record sales were way way up during Napster's peak. The reason computer games sell like hotcakes is because playable demo's are available to download anywhere for free on the web. Its more than enough to wet someone's taste for the game. I never see any CD stores anymore that let you preview CD's before you buy; and who wants to sit in a store for 73 minutes anyways? The RIAA's additude is basically "buy it and like it" pfft. :whip:

Blue.
I heard it costs Microsoft like $40 more than X-Box cost just to make one, wow that sucks :stongue:

there will always be a way to crack it

but anyways, you guys should at least support the artists some how, i mean come on, they make music for a living, and people are taking it for free, how are they supposed to live, working at mcdonalds so they can pay rent and they make music, but you get it for free. i mean, what if you made music, and you arent making any money, because of somoene like you on the internet. i dont support all the artists i download, but i have like 150+ vinyls and all tehse cds and what not, so its not like i am being a hipocrit
