IMO yes.

Future Breeze, Megara vs. DJ Lee, CJ Stone, Starsplash - All semi-commercial in my book.

IMHO

a track is only to be considered as cheese if the following condition occurs:

a breakthrough track is created. then another track is created with the same sound or construction.

that 2nd track is cheese.

who here agrees with me?

I disagree, copying yourself isn't called cheese, it's called a lack of talent & imagination. Cheese is a sound all it's own, like Wierd Al, it's often designed to be cheesy from the start.

Something thats either in the charts, or by ing up a trance tune (looks at Jurgen vries) by putting lyrics the whole way thru the tune so u cant actually listen to the trance how its meant to be listend to but instead u got to listen to the stupid words that would only appeal to twat beer boys in a crappy club that costs £4 for entry, followed by a fight and spending the rest of the early hours of the morning in the back of a riot van.

even easier definition: dj alligator haha :D

Cheese, i feel, is an opinion.....

Yes to the majority of tranceaddicts DJ Alligator, Darude, Vries etc etc are cheese....however to the people who enjoy those tunes they are not cheese aswell as the producers who make those tracks...they like them, hence do not consider them cheese.

The term cheese seems get thrown around very often, as if to represent yourself better then the masses because you dislike a widely played and commercial track....however would you consider your favorite track cheese if it was liked by the masses and played day in and day out on the radio?...if you say yes then your not in the scene for the music.....

In all honesty....music is an art form.....art can never be wrong....because the next person may find what you dislike to be brilliant......

yes club trance can be trendy but so can progressive or any genre for that fact

nothing wrong with cheese just as long as you really like it and are not just trying to blend into the trend

No, it means the artist didn't even try to make a tune HE would like - his first thought was "what would everyone else like?".

Of course... but that wasn't the point...
Some people are trend-setters and some are trend-followers.
Trend-setters define the sound. Cheese makers just follow it.

the rest i agree.
its weird at times i kinda guiltily play a future breeze track

it seems as if a track is cheesy after it gets popular.
i.e. : iio-rapture. lots of people liked it and after a while eveyrone's been calling it cheese.

and cheese is anything that is played by "dangerous" dave pearce!

yeh but he plays lonliness, solstice (albeit 6 months after everyone else), and liguya (even if you dont like it its not cheese).

IMO you got these levels in trance.

Not Cheese: Ferry Stuff etc.

Sometimes Cheese:
Sometimes people call non cheese cheese if its become sucessful commercially - this is wrong.

Chese: IVD, Dee dee
THis is cheese, but some of it is ok.

Very Cheese: Lasgo
This is one step part IVD, but its nowhere near Flipnfill - this could be played in a club with at least some sort of crediblity.

SuperCheese: Flip and Fill/Kelly Llorenna etc.
This is the super commercial stuff with no musical merit, its there to make money. A good sign of thise level is if they release 2 cds but only 1 12". More often than not even ty 'local' clbus find tese cheesy and wont play them.

Much of what you call "cheese" is actually great music.
