thats the strangest thing ive heard...how can you STOP liking music cause other people are starting to enjoy it? I really dont get that? I dont like Trance getting mainstream either...but it would never quit my love for the real tunes that i will always love. |

I didn't say I don't listen to trance anymore. I lost interest about a year ago however (because of the mainstream and the rubbish beeing produced), and now I just sometimes listen to the (good) old mp3's I still have. I'm not into raving anymore and started listening to other sorts of music. |

Just curious, how old are you? Ya sound like a young pup. No matter, welcome.
I think the take home message that some people are trying to tell you is this: don't try so darn hard to fit in. The so-called "scene" is not about people trying to perform all the same dance moves, listen to the same music, or play with glowsticks and poi the same (even though it kinda looks that way to outsiders looking in). In other words, people aren't trying to be anything, they're just themselves listening, dancing, and sharing experiences with each other.
So don't worry so much about your dance steps and learning how to do glowstrings and so forth. Just listen to the music and let you be you. Believe me, there's plenty of people I know that dance like they came from the Ballet Group of Frankenstein, but it's THEIR dance and they love it. Don't try to embrace the scene, let the scene embrace YOU for who YOU are and what you give back.
And another thing, take everything in stride. This scene has a way of getting the worst out of you if you allow yourself to go too far. The Mrs. and I have been around for some time now, and the only reason why we're here is because we've learned how to pace ourselves.
Lastly, LISTEN to the music. I mean really listen. Don't just put a bunch of songs in your player and skip around to hear the big buildups and climaxes. You have a nice list of songs earlier, but it's not about how many you can collect. There's substance to the songs. Quality, not quantity. Listen and appreciate what's being played. And while you're at it, diversify yourself a little bit. Don't just limit yourself to trance. Get some house, progressive house, tribal, jungle, D&B, ambient, etc. Balance is good.
