Can I ask why you are wanting to know about two ludicrusly priced mixers unless you intend fitting them in a club?

Many reasons to pay money for a good mixer.
I would recommend you go for Rane, considering you are in the States. I own a Rane 8z, though its not the MP2016. From what ive heard, the Rane MP2016 has been known as one of the top pro mixers around and used by many big clubs. I dont know what type of intentions you got as a dj, but this will have complete option to expand and a grow, with of course the top sound quality of a Rane.
The only thing about the pro series of Rane is that you may have to get a seperate eq, if you plan on equing channels independently.
I personally would not get a mixer with a built in effects processor, as it will be much better if you get one seperate, as long as its a good quality one.

for sure i'd go wit hthe allen&heath

i cannot see the reasoning behind rane's bright idea not to include a 3-4 band eq for each channel

it makes absolutely no sense to me, like if you (not you personally) need the precision of a rotary volume control, then wouldn't that mean you like really smooth transitions, which a 3 or 4 band eq is essential for?

Rane purposely did not include eqs with the MP2016, that is what the XP2016 is for. The XP2016 is an external rack that connects with the MP2016, but all it provides is bass, mid treble control on all 6 channels, level meter, active crossfader w contour control on the cross fader.
Ranes philosophy for making their rotary mixer is a bit different from Allen & Heath, as they intend to provide a rack mixer to be built upon, to seperate each main function (which is usually better but more costly), but Allen & Heath tries to provide it in one notch.

If you look at the mixers, they look completely different. One is rotary on is not.
I spoke once to a mobile dj owner who was at the audio store once, and he mentioned to me that he was in that business for years, that that Rane made the best quality mixers by far,and that is all he provided for his company.

I know you are getting confused, some people are telling you rane, some a&h...

If I where you I would go for the allen & heath xone:62, all big clubs use them and they are of proven quality, it will also save you the trouble of having to buy separate equalizers for each channel and this will also save space (the more space your equipment takes up the more annoying it gets). Plus with the allen & heath you get the inbuilt effects which I know are very good ;)

If you are going to go for a mixer at that price then go for the pioneer 600. It is still the best mixer that ever graced this planet and it always will be. end of story..................

A&H, dude... Blows pioneer outta water..
iteddyi
Lol i own a pioneer 500.. i mean its cool and all but whats with the plasitc knobs!! i know im talking about two different kind of mixers, and both are really great.. but i think ill be considering the rane.

seperate is always better.
you shouldnt get a mixer for its effects. you should get a effects machine. i think people think djm500 or 600 is good casue of the effects.. thats cool and all but u gotta get the mix down first and i think rane will help me with that.
