I second that.

I often have the same issues mentioned above. I usually record myself just messing around like 2 or 3 times before recording an actual mix. It helps a LOT. Like last week...see before February, I was doing mixes in Traktor (I had a turntable since November, but all I could really do was collect vinyls and hone down on beatmatching). Then I got my DJM500 at the end of January, and have been mixing tunes from my turntable and from two output channels (front & rear surround) on my PC. So some of my stuff still comes from MP3, but what do you do until you can afford a second turntable...Anyway, whomever suggested recording yourself practicing...I highly recommend it. I made my best mix ever last week -- I messed some things up but they were very very minimal screw-ups and were quickly corrected.

I guess I'm finally getting used to this mixer and even more used to recording myself.

Here's the tracklist if anyone's curious:

1) [ 0:00] Oliver Klein feat. Tom Hingley - Shakedub [Maelstrom]
2) [ 6:36] Sonorous - Glass Garden (Ronski Speed Mix) [Euphonic]
3) [12:58] Above & Beyond - Far From In Love (Airbase Remix) [Anjunabeats]
4) [18:16] Aly & Fila - Eye of Horus (Ronski Speed Mix) [Euphonic]
5) [25:55] System F - Solstice (Original Mix) [Tsunami]
6) [32:30] Solar Stone - Solarcoaster (Midway Remix) [Unknown]
7) [40:07] Sun Decade - I'm Alone (Ronski Speed Mix) [Euphonic]
8) [46:55] Solid Globe - North Pole (Original Mix) [Unknown]
9) [53:10] Minimalistix - Magic Fly (Brian Koner Remix) [Mostiko]

I gave a CD out to a few friends...they loved it. I'm trying to introduce some people to trance, and this last mix really seemed to do it for a few of them.

I love Euphonic. :D

nope, not the man... just had 6+ yrs using soundforge and recording mixes. if you couple cd architech w/ soundforge, it becomes even eaiser to record.

one thing i just started doing, which pretty much works wonders is cool edit pro to do denoise and what not. their de-noise, de-hum, de-crackle engine is top notch!

I agree.. it worked wonders for me last time I recorded.

By the way, who makes CD Architect? I'd like to have a look.

I just started recording while I practice mixing and then listening to the recording afterwards...and I have to say it is helping with my mixing skillz. Cause when you are mixing you always think it sounds better than it actually does. When I listen to the recording after each mixing session I can tell what I did wrong and what works which is helping me a whole lot!
My point is everyone should record while they mix and just have fun and experiment. Afterwards when you listen to your recording you can tell what worked and what didn't.

It's all about having fun!
:D

DJ Armada - ProgresSlider 33 (Live Turntable Mix) - 03-03-03

how dare you call that a "Live Turntable Mix"?

I mean editing is fine, but don't call it Live afterwards....

actually I think it's much worse when recording at home, cause you will hear every transition over and over again while at a club or rave you hear it only once and then it's gone. People forget fcuk-ups quite quickly if the next transition is good...
i hate making home recordings. that's part of why i quit (for now)
This is very true.
