I personally think you shouldn't edit your mixes at all, it's like cheating.

Like Tiesto says everything is done live(his CDs) because if you edit it it loses it's energy.

He said it in some interview...

His Revolutions cd is probably unreal if you say he didn't do any editing at all... not one beat out of place and everything fell in parts just like they were built to be...would take months to do that!

Here are a few things you have to weigh

- the big name dj's get paid tons and can afford to spend all day in front of the tables, us little guys trying to break in dont have the luxury, we dont have the time it takes to perfect a mix like them.

- cds are only 80 minutes long (90/99 if you can find them and have a burner that supports them) so if you run over, you can either edit it in soundforge or time compress it in acid in order to listen to it.

i do agree w/ you to an extent. i feel that it is cheating a bit, but if there are 14 songs on a cd, and you went back and touched up a couple, no biggie.. any more than that i would just re-record it. most of the mix cd's you buy from your big-name buddies are all done w/ editing & hardly anymixing

u are absolutely right, for example most Global Underground CD's are "digitally" mixed! ;) :D

Yep, it was released some time last year, I think. It was released under Nebula (NEBT019 & NEBDJ019), Yris (YRIS 002), and Planetary Consciousness (PC 2028-6).

I just bought my vinyl copy Sunday :D :D :D

Ronski Speed does some amazing stuff.
Gourhellyea
where did you get it?

eBay

trancearmada, i don't get it... you record 2 days worth of mixing, and then you edit out the best parts and call that your mix?

wtf?

that's why I dumped that mix and recorded another one instead which took me less than an hour and I did only one edit cause I ed up in the middle

but regardless that's not the point, point is it's a promo CD, and not a live set, well it is but I did not call the promo CD a live set.... so.....

TranceGeek
i thought the point of a promo mix cd is to showcase your mixing skills, not editing skills... whats the point then? i mean, anyone can spend a month working on a cd untill they get all mixes right and patch it all up together... but isn't that cheating too? or how about if you do score a gig somewhere with that cd, and you're expected to mix perfectly the whole night, without ups, like your cd... then what?

i dunno man, your logic is scary... :nervous:

well your logic is scary too had u read the entire thread you would know what the point behind my logic is, but than again why don't we look at all the Global Underground CD's. HMMMmmmmmm are they mixed live? Did not think so, every single one of them is digitally mixed. So where is the validity in your point than.
