Ferry Corsten or James Holden? (pg. 4)
View this Thread in Original format

Bill Hamel is the head huncho at Sunkissed Records (US) and Tecknology, one of the industries well respected producers and a man whose work is likey to be found in the boxes of DJ's like Dave Seamen, Danny Tenaglia and Nick Warren. To anyone who has not heard his stuff i recommend buying the 'Balance' Mix Comp CD...definately quality stuff !

If I was to guess, i'd wager he will throw down a deep progressive house set with lots of spacey vocals (at least i hope he does). Stuff like Blackwatch and Greed.

Bill Hamel - Close (Original) <--- Mmmmm :)
Hamel & Blackwatch - Discotek

I've seen Ferry a couple of times so it's Holden's turn, although I'm worried...

I was talking to a DJ friend who mentioned that De-Kozi ran into Holden once (recently) and that he couldn't mix live worth .
Bad enough that anybody could tell.
I hate vicious rumours as much as the next person so I hope to hell that this is wrong! :nervous:

And BT is a definate as well!! :happy2:

It's important to note that James Holden is first and foremost a producer, not a DJ. I did read a post a year back that he tends to change the BPM between tracks and doesn't really have good flow in his sets, but that was back when he first started doing sets. It's been more then a year since then and he's played some major venue's so i'm guessing his skills have definately improved.

Personally as long as he doesn't have any major train wrecks I don't mind the fact that he'll probably drop everything from his traditional dark acid looped progressive tracks mixed in with a good measure of tribal, deep house, breaks and hopefully even a little ambient. The key with a DJ like Holden i think is that he will spin a very ecletic kind of set then someone like Ferry who will probably drop a large chunk of the same songs he did the last time he spun at the Guv.

Oh my god as if. Holden's mixing is so tight. Check out his e-mix, it's ing stupid good. It's Dekoze btw, uh-oh credibility check.

^^^^^The Essential Mix of Holden's is one of the most unique sounding prog sets ive heard, tribal at times, dark, then uplifting hes all over the place with the flow....but it definately works. Especially enjoy the 2nd half.
BTW....his mixing is SPOT on.

I'm going for BT and Ferry.

Ferry is in my top 5, and BT, is well... BT..

Holden would be good, but I think the night is going to be a mess trying to get from room to room. So I'm sticking the in the Ferry room and staying there all night.... :)

i am recording it at the moment. the big problem is that the radiostation runs commercials every 5 min :( :( :(
i can upload what i have recorded, but i will also look for clean version from other place because james holden is crazy good.

Dekoze is a great DJ....

Who knows if the story is true, but I personally think Dekoze is an awesome DJ - I'd love to hear him play anytime.

I agree, Hamel puts out some decent . I've been canning his remix of Lambs - Gorecki like there's no tomorrow. Are you sure he's gonna be in the guv? I thought he was in the KH with the rest of the uber trancers.

Ok, I always get confused about the room names becuase I used to go there when it was the warehosue..

Ferrry/BT are in the big room [north] (the room Tiesto played) and Holden is small room/B&H lounge room [south east] - AFAIK.

What the hell are you going on about RJ? haha

Guv and Koolhaus, not big and small room.
