I'll trade u my Vestax 275 plus some cash for ur DJM if nobody wants to buy mine......

Personally, the Vestax is a good mixer if you just love to mix Trance....I spin Hip Hop and other genres so it kinda does not "click" with me. I love it dearly but I should have saved my money for a DJM since I need the extra channel and the effects.

i would love to have battles with him...and share vinyl...and talk about techniques, equipment, and other stuff with him..that would just be so awesome! unless he spun hip hop, that would be a lot less fun. ugh.

If I had a women that was into it and loved to do the above, I'd be happy......Only one thing though, I would NOT let her touch the $20 + records. I don't even touch them that much....those are like sacred or something.......:whip:

i have to agree with that...all the girls i know who like trance only like melodic stuff, mainly with the female vox...
me, heheh, no! i like it the exact opposite..hard and with deep dark male vocals which *aren't* singing...stuff like acid nightmare, dj shredda-chainsaw...drugface-fat as f&ck....i really don't like whiney females singing about loooove and sappy stuff like that. so cheesey!

hehe, yeah no point in letting anyone touch your $20 records. what do they need to touch it for? i always get nervous when one of my friends (or someone else) hovers around my set up..ever notice how they like to flip switches, turn the knobs, and flip the xfader on your mixer , even when it's off??? why do they do that???!!! ahhh!
DJ Chrono
yeah, and when they ask to spin and then knock the needle off onto the turntable base! AHHRRRRRRR happened too many times to me.
dJohn
Even though it'd be nice to have a chick that spins, having a chick that's not into that kinda stuff is just as cool as well...she'll be that much more fascinated or not-knowledgable...kinda adds to the electronica DJ mystique...:D

Hip hop as in commercial radio like Nelly and Ja Rule, or hip hop as in battle breaks and cuts? If you've ever seen a live turntablist show, then you'll know why I ask.

LOL sooo true..... that drives me nuts when people touch my stuff ive had 3 records and 5 needles damaged that way nowadays i take the needles off to prevent any dmg.....
JohnSmith
eh, wanna know a great tip for that? (now that this thead has been officially hijacked)

On technics, you can use the little lever thing to make your needles not drop down that far. there is a lever that you can use to lift the needle off the record and put it down if you want, but most people just use their fingers. What you can do is set the height of the needle to JUST below where the record is playing, but not quite low enough so that the needle will drop onto your pitch dots if someone drops it.

great tip i picked up from dj_skywarp here.. hmm, where is that guy, i haven't seen him for a while.

that makes the most traumatizing noise when it hits the edge of the platter

yeah I think you did the right decicion...the djm 500 is in a higher league than the 275 (for exapmple DJM 300 and PCV 275 is in the same league and DJM 600 and A&H xone 62 are in the same league....just so you know what I mean with leagues :))

oh either one, i don't mean they wouldn't have skills..i just mean it would be a lot less fun to have a b/f who spun hip hop b/c i don't like that stuff...it would mean i'd have to listen to it, bleh...

dammit i wish my stantons had that kind of lever thing. so far i have been able to prevent anyone from touching the needles though...i keep a close eye on my dex when other people are around...although it's touch b/c whenever someone comes over, they go "oooohhhhhh" and walk straight over to the tables and start touching!!! why are you flipping the xfader and changing eqs when it's not even on, and there's no records on the dex?? eeee!! :whip:

it would be nice to have a b/f who is mystified by what i do...but after a while i bet he would get sick of me talking about it. and he probably wouldn't understand that i want to practice everyday for hours and would rather do that then go to a restaurant, or the movies. :tongue2
DjJade
just take out the needles when youre not using them

DJ Chrono
but that requires effort
mikefasssy
excess effort = should be avoided at all times
