I think for most mixers with XLR outputs and RCA outs the actual signal is different. I understand that XLR balanced outs has a louder signal than RCA's. In the old Urei manual for example it even says that the balanced outputs push out 12 amps versus the unbalanced or RCA's which pushed out like 6 amp signal. Somehow the circiutry in some mixers provide for a stronger signal through the XLRs that is intended to be connected for really long runs. Such as night clubs.
Stanton and Whirlwind make a powered direct box that can change the unbalanced RCA signal to a balanced louder XLR signal which comes in handy and is inteded for long runs out of DJ mixers. Also as Greener pointed out XLR cables also have better specs for grounding and shielding. Not to say that XLR cables don't go bad but they sure can take a beating.

erm.. this behringer stuff getting crazy ... indeed this look alike djm600 and xoon70 is major alternative for low budget dj who wants lots of feature ... and for high budget dj .. this is just a matter of preference ... and dare to take the risk to use them.
i agree with u guyz that behringer should come out a better looks mixer .. maybe they should put it like a black or smoke color so that it does give elegant and style appearance like djm stuff. :crazy: :crazy: :crazy: |
