Some news regarding traction control:
Traction Control Stays For 2004 - Launch Control + Gearboxes Go:
02/05/03
The FIA has officially agreed to postpone the bans on launch control and electronic gearboxes until the start of next season following meetings with the team bosses and the teams' technical directors.

The driver aids were meant to be banned as of the 2003 British Grand Prix, but in light of McLaren and Williams' arbitration case against the FIA (see separate story) motorsport's governing body opted to postpone the ban.

However following its meeting with the team bosses on 17th of April, and a second one with the bosses and technical directors, the FIA announced today (Friday) that no bans will come into effect this year. But as of next season launch control and automatic gearboxes will no longer be allowed.

Teams have won their fight to keep traction control after they were able to prove to the FIA that removing it would not cut costs, which is the intention of the bans, but rather increase it. These rules were unanimously agreed upon by all parties.

The FIA statement read: 'The teams unanimously agreed to a complete ban on automatic gearboxes and launch control for 2004. The teams were able to demonstrate that the elimination of traction control would involve very significant additional costs for all teams and engine manufacturers. The teams therefore unanimously requested the FIA not to proceed with a ban on traction control for 2004.'

"The FIA agreed on the clear understanding that this would enable the engine manufacturers to supply the independent teams with engines at a fully affordable cost having regard to the current business climate. The FIA agreed that, provided engines are supplied on this basis, these arrangements will remain in place indefinitely."

"The FIA also agreed to allow pitlane speed limiters to continue and to examine the possibility of allowing electronically controlled power steering."

I expected a lot more from the Ferrari's to be honest. Alonso managed to keep up with Schu all weekend without much of a problem, if it was anybody else but Schumacher driving that Ferrari there would've been nothing majorly impressive about Ferrari's weekend at all. Nothing more than we're used to anyway :D

Man of the race was Alonso without a doubt! Will be interesting to see what the new McLaren has to offer :) :)

may not be his fault but dammit get rid of pizzonia rite now...thats my 2 cents for now..cheers :D

couldn't agree with you more, but remember, there weren't a lot of straightaways at that track, thats why alosno kept up for the whole race... all renault really needs right now is just another 40hp!!
