Support Djs by purchasing their Albums (pg. 2)

I don't buy CDs, I never have. Even before MP3s. But, I will ALWAYS see the DJ if he's playing in TO. As for the arguement that MP3s lower artist's income - that's total bull. MP3s are the best way of advertising, if not for MP3s I still would be listening to top 40 crap. Because after all, here in Canada trance isn't played on the radio, therefore the only way to expose yourself to this music is to actually D/L the mp3, or see the DJ spin :D.

Dont touch cd's, especially not compilaton cd's, as most of the tracks I usually dont like.

I do support by buying 12"s of any track I really like, and I only keep mp3's of tracks I like, so I hardly have any mp3's that arent actually legal (they are legal if you own the cd or record right?)

Fneh.

I buy my CD's. Compliations or Artist albums. If I can't get them then ONLY then I will go and download them.

If record companys made their CD's more available then maybe people wouldnt download them and their profits would go up (maybe).

Most singles I download so I can buy the vinyl.

I can understand why people dont go and buy them. I think burns put it best:

"At the end of the day, Who is going to wax 15 sniffs on a CD when you got a mouse, computer screen, a Hard Drive and a little thing called Cable."

actually....I think most bands out there signed to labels would orgasm in their pants if they were getting a buck a cd. It's actually near 10-15 cents. check out this article by Steve Albini....http://www.negativland.com/albini.html

EDIT: Also, how much money does L-Vee make every gig? He's a pretty famous guy so I figure atleast 10 grand per gig. How many gigs does he do a year? I'm assuming atleast 20 so I figure he makes at the min. 200 000 USD a year on gigs alone. Yeah. I'm sure all the internet piracy is making you live on welfare buddy....

Beleive me, Record Labels don't take that big of a loss on internet DLing. It may be different with "Trance" labels but for the major labels, they don't take a hit at all.

EDIT #2: Also, if the labels are pinning all their hopes on 12" sales, then I'm pretty sure they are ing morons. Consider this. I like the track Tiesto - Flight 643. I wanna go buy it. I'm not a DJ. new vinyl around here is like 10 bucks CDN!!! Now way in Hell am I going pay 10 bucks for 4 tracks at the most. That is a ripoff. Considering new CDs here cost about 15 bucks and 15 bucks is still to high. Maybe it's time all the record companies reevaluate their business plans....

I buy vinyls from time to time. The problem is not that I dont want to buy them, it's that they're hard to find here and their expensive ($15 a single) With the amount of trance that gets released it's impossible to afford it as a 17 year old. Not to mention I have to wait like 2 months after the songs release before I can actually find it.

I download mp3's. I also buy CD's when i can, however that is quite rare.

Here in Calgary none of the big stores (HMV, A&B Sound) carry a lot of electronic music. If i walk into the store they might have one or two CD's per artist, and always the ones i don't want. I don't have the time or the energy to travel the city looking for CD's, or the money for that matter. I'll buy CD's of the good ones, but i'm not going to go and spend $20-$25 for 1 CD with 10 tracks on it (haven't been looking at CD's lately, might be off) every time i have the money, or risk that kind of money on a bad CD.

I buy artist albums. Most trance producers dont put out artist albums often, but when they do.. first I sample them on mp3 and if I really like the album then I'll go on Amazon and order it. Why do I buy it when I can just burn it to CD? I'd rather have the authentic CD with the original covers and everything. Makes me feel proud. It also looks better on your CD rack than having a whole row of white CD's.

Quit your crying!. I buy cd's..so what they cost money...i still buy them. You don't hear me complaining about it....grow up. You don't have enough money...then simply don't buy them or download them...or trade the cd's you have to a used cd store. Heck...those are goldmines imo.
