ing Heroes? PPl HAD nothing back then. NOTHING! No jobs, no food, and money that was worth nothing. If they wanted to get out of poverty they followed the first guy who had balls to do something about it no matter waht methods he would use. But that was back then and I did not live there at that time and neither did you. All we can see from that era is in Books. We never experienced it. Thank god.
Second, why the hell do ppl ALWAYS bring that up? Germany= Nazis, or are ALWAYS refferenced towards it? THAT WAS over 50 ING YEARS AGO. Our Friggin Gandparents lived at that time. Get over it. That is why it is called history. So let it be history and over with. IF you want me to dish up something out of the past that Canada did I will here goes. Back When Japan was at war with the USA, Canada actually took all its Japanese and Asian Canadians and immigrants and put them in "camps" to be helld captive for no reasons. They were disgriminated and treated like animals as well as slapped with rediculous Curfews. Who built your railroads??? How many Chinese did Canada Kill to built their damn Railroad? Tons.
Quit digging the Nazi thing from WW2, you guys ain't exactly innocent either. |

| Yah i must agree with E Master, using WWII is a cheap shot as the people on here were not alive when it was taken place nor would support it. It is a very weak argument as we each have our own black history, just they try not to teach it in the history books. |

Now now, don't take it personal. But unfortunately, it is relevant.
It can be comparable for many reasons...
- It was a War
- It was only 50 years ago
- both are examples of democracy vs. dictatorship
- the parallels between Hitler and Hussein really aren't UNCOMPARABLE
- good vs. evil?
It was a cheap shot, I apologize, and I didn't mean for you to take it personally. I forgot how nationalistic this board can be. One thing that did piss me off in return, was how you (A) assumed I was Canadian, and (B) denounced that because I brought up WW2 it gave you just cause to start listing other atrocities in the world. I never expected an apology from you, yet you immediately retaliate by expecting one from me. |

My great grandparents (from Germany/Austria) always talk about this: There was no opportunity for anybody in Germany (germans/jews/everybody) after WWI and the whole country was forced to pay reprations to get back into the world community.
Then comes a tinpot dictator who has some grandeur ideas (although wrong), and everybody rallies behind him (foolish).
My great grandmother and grandmother were in camps in Austria, my grandfather was in the german tank batallion and fought on the french front (until injured in 1941 and then worked in the miliary pharamacy - all while his wife and child were in a camp in Austria).
Luckly in early 1944 they escaped to Canada and were SO thankful they found a free country. They love Canada more than their lives.... My great-grandfather still talks how if he was young enough he'd go to war for Canada.
All the German people wanted was an opportunity to live, but Hitler riled the masses up into a frenzy due to the reperations.... The rath of which is so deplorable that we should never forget it and fight to make sure it never happens again.
My grandparents and great-grandparents still try to figure out how such a crazy/insane person was able to gain control even though the populus didn't agree.
Hitler was a mad-man.... Nobody should compare the current times to then - nor hold the children of those responsible, responsible now... Lets all work to make sure it doesn't happen again.. That is more important. |

It's easy for you to dismiss him as insane, non? And second of all, don't make it sound as if Germany was revolting over Hilter from day one. He was ing Time Magazine man of the year for sakes. Everyone loved him. Unfortunately, the populus did agree with him gaining control, it was only until after when the atrocities of the Natzi camps were brought to light that people "didn't agree".
Where did the actual Natzi's come from? Mars? Where they not the part of this "populus" you refer to?
RJ, I never said poor Emaster had to pay for this. . The point I was trying to make was that bringing more politics into this wasn't the answer. Of course I made the mistake of bringing up WW2, I see this, and again, I apologize. |

its not that everyone loved him Jon...he was a great speaker. He knew how to manipulate a crowd, he knew what to say to the German people to gain their support, and those that didn't support him, he threatened.
lets just drop this before we all get into unnecessary arguing. The point shouldn't have been brought up, and lets just leave it at that. |
