Thinking of moving to Toronto
View this Thread in Original format
B-Good
I live in Vancouver now and am thinking of maybe moving to Toronto.

My question to all of you TO people out there is do you think its a smart move.
Whats the ups and downs to living there ?
Are there any jobs about these days ?
Is it the place to be right now or what ?

Just let me know your two cents

Thanks
Tudo Beleza
hummmm why leave Vancouver? It is much more beautiful then Toronto, and the people are much friendlier. I am unsure about the job market, but i hope to spend the summer out on the coast :)

As far as jobs go there's always work to be found, it just depends on what you're willing to do. Are you looking for a profession, or will just anything do?

For housing. You won't find a place in the city for under 700, 750. Maybe if you luck out and find a house with 3 or 4 people you could get that down to 550 or 600. I know people living in holes, honest to gods rat/cockroach infested dumps who pay 700... then again, I know people who live in really nice pads and only pay 800 or so...

Of course this is the place to be. As far as I know Montreal is the only other city with a party scene. Every weekend I'm meet poeple from all over, especially the US who say this is the best place to party. It's the biggest city, has the most people, so by default theres a lot to do.

Then again I may be biased since I've lived here my whole life. In my travels I've only found three other places in the world I'd want to live.

Good luck with your move.

Cheers,
Fats

well in the job scene, the few proffessions that they constantly need more and more people for are Nursing and Construction.

what profession are u in right now (if not in school)??

i hear Vancouver is really beautiful sceneric wise and that the only downside of Van-city is the weather:(

oh and the big name djs, artists come here more often than Vancity.

oh and also, its rather populous here as compared to Vancouver (from statistics ive read)

so if ur up to all of that, then u can move here:)

I'd take the weather in Vancouver over this arctic-cold weather in Toronto anytime of the day! But that's just me...

And I hear it's nothing like the Britain, since the rain just falls for a few hours a day and then it clears up... And temperatures are way higher than here (in January!). Now, B-Good, you've got anything to add to this? Please correct me if I'm wrong...

I'd take toronto hands down from van city.
Theres so much more happening here. we're all used to it and "think" its boring but there is so much of toronto and ontario to be explored

I'd have to agree... at 23 I've only managed to visit the pubs and bars from the Rouge to Young... There's still half a city to get wasted in.

you really wanna move to a SARS "hot spot"??

but seriously, i moved here last september and i'm still not used to the city life here. if you can get along with thousands of people always being in the way then you should move here.
