Damn it ! There is SOOOOOOO much good trance being produced lately !!!
I think 2003 is even better than 1999-2000..
Just consider the following new tracks:
- Aly & Fila - Eye Of Horus (Ronski Speed Remix)
- Ferry Corsten - Indigo
- Rapid Eye - Stealing Beauty
- Pulser - My Religion
- Lolo - Extended Horizon
- Kansai - Remember This Night
- DJ Choose - That Mucho (Release Me)
- Solid Globe - North Pole
- Coldplay - Clocks(virtually any remix)
- Situation Popstatic - Love talk
- Jay Walker - Initate
IMHO any of these tracks rivals the best classics of 99-2000
I just love it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Indigo is WICKED. When Ferry dropped it I went a little nutty. YES Clocks (any mix, even original is very good). What's also good is what Avb dropped on his last ASOT:
Andy J. Powell & Mike Nero - Skyliner (Hiver and Hammer remix)
Robert Lidstroem- Recitation (Misja Helsloot remix) (Exciter)
also he dropped Motorcycle - As the Rush comes.
The sweeping strings mix of that is AMAZING. |

1)Nothing will ever top 1999
2)Why compare yrs
3)Trance never went away or lost popularity unless you believe the idiots in the music magazines, remember them. They said hard house would become more popular than trance and did it? NO
Same people that said progressive would become more popular than trance and that trance would die......did not happen.
4)Trance will probably always be around and it never left.
5)Long Live TRANCE! |

Trance is in a class all by itself. It tends to be a far more complex genre , compared to hard house and techno (techicaly speaking, anyhow.) Don't get me wrong, I like house and techno, but for me, nothing beats the raw emotion-stiring power of TRANCE.
LONG LIVE TRANCE |

i do notice that trance does seem to be getting back to it's roots, so to speak. listening to the gabriel & dresden global dj broadcasts remind me so much of essential mix oakie. and hearing asot 90 reminded me both of emix oakie, and early magik.
i'm no expert on trance, and timelines and stuff, but things seems to be getting back into the epic, melodic swing of things :) |

To all those who think that Trance never lost it's original popularity.. Interesting - how would you explain Gatecrasher going monthly, Cream closing it's doors, almost any other club in UK doing very poorly, and last but not least Sasha/Digweed being top 2 DJs in 2002/2001 ?
Trance certainly became a lot more mainstream by 2002, but it has lost a lot of it's popularity in clubland. |
