Neotune - Velvet Steel

Dear dudes and dudettes,

I made a new track! It's a typical Neotune track so expect some weird proggy trance style, with a weird melody. I don't know what to think of it myself, so why don't you guys tell me? I can imagine some of you will like and some would rather clean their toilet with it.

Made this with good ol' FLS 5, nothing really new.

Oh and this is not quite the 100% done version, I'll finish it after the suggestions you come up with, maybe I missed some parts.

Enjoy (cleaning) and thanks!

-Jay

first of all, this is really weird, mate (in a good way, though)

listening on headphones at the moment,

the kick needs work for sure from my point of view, it needs to be more sharper/punchier, needs eqing, the bassline is not 100% right for me, the sound i mean, sounds weird i think, but driving, thats good...
good percussion as always, the sub melody or something you used on top of it, need to be more prominent i think, its a bit drowned in the mix, turn up the volume on that oldschool clap, good breakdown, good effects, i like the main synth, good melodies

anyway, weird track for sure, really reminds me to something i heard before a couple of years ago in some tiesto sets maybe or something, cant really point out which track though, maybe im wrong, dunno at the moment

overall, i dig this track mate!

i expect more Neotune tracks, for sure!

keep up the good work, Jay

cheers,

Peter

Nothing wrong with this kick at all! Its great. And the other percs are genuinely rich and crisp!
Excellent filter work here!
Rather enjoyed this! [strange...Im a cheese-lover by nature, not a proggy]
The lead (bassline?)was weird but went well with your pads!
The melody really brought this track along even though it wasnt a crazy-sick hook. Still well done IMO.

Jay, the best thing about this track is its uniqueness. It really is quite fresh sounding and, despite what's been said, I don't think it sounds like anything else. Its a refreshing injection of good trance into this community!

Now...listen to some of my cheese! LOL

hey Jeroen! will give my oppinion while listening:
- very nice percussion
- bassline is ok, a bit computer-ish
- i like that bass that comes in at 1:04
- melodies are nice
- ok, breakdown starts.. hm, the notes of the bass are the same as the lead, add some variation in the melodies
- synths are good
i like this proggytrancey track, but it's not ur best work mate

-Renco

He Jay M!

Very nice track! Very original!

Nice break and build up of energy afterwards! Very good!

Put it on a vinyl, and I'll buy it!

Keep up the good work!

Greetz,

TheWiseman

BTW, I see you are really in to original tunes at the moment! Doing something just different from the mainstream. I like that!

Hi,

Great kick and bass. Percussion is also nice. The melody that kicks in now is original and dark, but it's not really my cup of tea for now. Further on in the track it gets really repetitive, try to variate the melody more, further on in the track. Soundq. is very nice.

4.45 I was hoping of more of a build up leading to a higher crescendo. Maybe add a sharp high ryhthm or something.

Nice use of pads in this track. This is a tune I reckon Ill definitley go back to & listen to again. The elements are catchy. Good work Jay

I think this is one of those tracks that you either love or hate.
I personally love it.
It isn't original in it's sound though, just listen to DJ Choose or F&M. This is their style to a T although they tend to have more tempo.

The Mix is solid with crisp clarity that sounds professional.

Personally I would like to hear a faster more driving version of this as prog isn't really my cup of tea.

Quality work though so keep it up.

Cheers
Nem
