Danny c - one possible future- my latest dark trancer

hi guys this is the latest track i've put together. in my 9months or so using reason i feel this is the best track i've done to date. still finding mastering not quite good enough but i guess that comes in time. anyway i'm very happy with the song, its my typical dark gothic epic trance.

give us your thoughts guys thanks

Nobody replies ?

I like the melody, very emotional, the quality of the sound is in progress but some sounds destroy the song : the bassline and this kind of pad, delete him and it will be much better imo !
In all cases, continue to work mate !

Cheers, D-Miurge !

Hi. Ok I listened, here's my review:

Pads used are ok, but they lack low end. Try to make em phatter with a chorus effect on them or so.
The pulse synth coming is a bit basic, try to put some big time filters or other fx on it.
Kick has no low end, give it a lot more of it!
Here and there are clicks caused by clipping. record/render with less volume and normalize/limit after.
Atmosphere is dark, as you intended.
Lots of high end on the synth string. Apart from that the sound is massive.
Nice how the track continues after the break, didn't expect that, bu t I like it. Try to accent your transitions with fx, noise wooshes and other.

I mentioned quite some points that could be changed IMO, I hope it helps you. Certainly potential, m8!

All the luck,
-Jay

ok, typing as i listen. eerie pad from the beginning, but gets a little annoying. theres no track time on this player, so i cant be more specific, but the next synth that comes in is a little harsh, as is the next one. with the eerie mood it would suit the track to soften things up imo. kick sounds nice and tight, but needs more low end. oooh i really dont like that arpeggiated bass kinda thing at all. percussion hit that starts here is very nice. plucked square synth is nice, i like the progression, very dark. wow, you just keep adding synths. its starting to get a little crowded here now, maybe drop a few of these out. it also seems to be clipping occassionally. the synths during the breakdown sound nice, but that eerie pad is still going and has gotten pretty annoying by this point. whoa, need to ease up on that supersaw pad. its a massive sound, but as jaym mentioned too much high, and just too much volume.

overall its not a bad tune by any means. the best advice i could give you would be to be more selective about the sounds you use. i mean to both make sure its exactly how you want before you put it in and to try not to put too many sounds in, as i feel you did in this one. there lots of potential here, its just a real dirty mix. so try to scrap some things and clean up others, export at a lower volume and it should sound pretty good!

hey danny! nice track, your productions are getting better + better! this one is very dark, and not particularly to my taste
as Jay M said, the kick! the kick! it definitely needs to be beefed up in the bass - perhaps find another kick that has a full bottom end and layer it in.
the wobbly bass pad is great for atmosphere but is perhaps a little bit loud; however you've eq'd it really nicely, can't believe it doesn't muddy the whole track! nice work there!
i really like the way this track builds it's layers and everything still gels really nicely. it's hard getting many parts working together so nice one there.
the high-passed strings in the breakdown again are really eerie and that's perfect for the tune - but they're just a little bit harsh for my sensitive ears
overall it's a really competent + confident production man, nice work! just too spooky for me

tyler c thanks for the constructive feedback. bound to be very helpful. you've defo brought to my attention alot of stuff i was missing as in it is overly high in areas such as synths and kick. and the intro pad being too loud throughout the track. glad you like percussion. funny enough i really liked the arpeggiated bass sound i selected maybe thats where are styles differ. it does get muddy later i know guess i'm gonna have to try limit the number of sounds i use just dont want the song to sound empty at any stage.

anyway hopefully my next track will be better.

pho mo didnt mean to scare you with my track glad you think i'm getting better and i'll try make my next track a bit happier.

thanks again guys
