Um I am unsure wheather I should keep trying new ensembles or core instruments (bass kick and melody) or if I should find one's I like and stay with it till I master it?Have any of you came accross this decision before?What did you do when you did?

Here I will elaborate further.I make a style called freeform.(basically trance at 170-180 bpms) and I use many different types of feels to my tunes.Some have hardhouse instruments and some have a darker feel,some are kinda an arabian nights style,and some are jess upliftin freeform.
Do you feel its better to keep one type of style or to go to the edges of as many as possible?

It's just the way how you like to create your music. The way I make music is like this: Whenever I have inspiration, I feel like creating a certain style of music. Like yesterday I felt like making funky house music. Then I try to create a melody that fit's in that mood. And I pick the sounds according to the style of the track.
When I'm constantly working on the same song, using the same samples over and over, I just run out of inspiration. I need to change songs and styles to keep myself inspired.

the whole runnin out of inspiration thing makes sense.
thats exactly how I was feeling when I tried to take even part of my older tunes and make another.
I feel I could get over this hump but im not sure if it would be worthwhile or not?

You shouldn't be worrying so much about these things. If you feel like making music just do so. It should be a intuitive proces and not so much of a rational proces.
If you sometimes(that is: almost al the time) just want to make music so bad, than it's your thing. Otherwise it just isn't...

Or is it that you just know music is you're thing, but you have trouble getting inspiration? Then I suggest that you listen to music as much as you can. Keep reading this forum as it will help you alot on learning what's possible. Knowing the possibility's gives you inspiration on tweaking and trying yourself.
And keep on making music!

Thanx what you are saying is makin a lot of sense redroom.I think you are right and I should just go with the flow as every time I combat it it does more damage than good.I appreciate your comments and thank you for helping me find my way.

The reason I posted this is it seems a few pro's use the same ensembles and I didn't know if it would be taboo to use a different one every time.I know that it is much harder to build a following if you do more styles as people lose interest if your new song isn't close to the last one.

p.s. redroom I like funky house and funky tech lemme know if you got any stuff I can hear.I feel it only fair for your help in these last few topics.

Whenever I start a new track, I forget about what "genre" I'm going to produce.. I just make it to what I am feeling at the moment... Don't worry about any rules... Do what you feel sounds the best...

About the same sounds-thing.. All of my tracks or undiguisably different. Except for the trance, club or progressive feel i give them. I actually never reuse synths or so. But that's personal.
