[Prog] jex - Drops of Water *UPDATED (again)*
One of my first tracks created from the start with my new CME UF5. The fact that I'm now using a keyboard that actually reads velocities let me get a good feel for how velocity dependent parameters moved, and it really helped me give this track a definitive feel.
This song is called Drops of Water because It gave me the vague impression of the atmosphere after rain has fallen; it's a very green track that smells lightly of ozone. After rain has fallen, there are always a few drops of water falling from the leaves, and those are what the track is named after.

Nice track you got there. It's got a very dreamy downtempo feel, not in a bad way though. Lots of different sounds and influences, makes it interesting.

- those acid/bass line in the background would sound better imo with lower cutoff and a deeper sound in general. sort of like what stephane k - "numb" is like.
- i like that transition at around 3:00
- those synths tha come at 3:20 sound really nice. maybe add some reverb to them or some pads in there.
- i like those pitch bend strings/pads
- that break around 4:10 is also missing some background elemens to keep the body full. maybe some pads or noise swishes.
- its knind of difficult to hear the percs/hats
- before the main 4x4 hat comes around 5:30 there should be more tension to make the build stronger
- overall, the tracks sounds really nice, but also sounds too much like it was made using software imo so u should work on that
Funky start. Watch the kick, I think it needs to be compressed a bit more. Good FX on the hi hat. Bit boring at the start have to admit. Nice FX now to bring the synth in. Good bring in of the bongos aswell. Nice. I think that melody at 4:55 sounds a bit off key some parts. You have a lot of nice FXes to keep this interesting. The melody for me sounds too Nintendoish.
GL with it.

mostly your acid/bass synths. this track kind of reminded me of Angel - "Goldrush" and you should check it out to hear the kind of sounds i'm talking about (as in what your should make your sounds like)

Hey Jex,
Man, it sounds like your mastering has improved dramatically since your last track. I'm liking the proggy feel you have going... this is a new direction for you and I reckon its working well.
Synth at 4.00 sounds wicked. There's some really beautiful melodies there. Filter on it sounds wicked too.
One thing.. everything feels very centered. You might want to try some more agressive panning or stereo imaging on some of the elements.
Man, this is like a 100% improvement over your previous stuff... top notch!!

That may be because it goes through a chromatic key progression. Maybe I've been listening to it for a while and am just numb to its imperfections, but I like it. *shrug*

Would you believe? The intro to Drops of Water was heavily inspired by Goldrush (Freefall Mix). In fact, that acid is my attempt at getting that kind of sound.
Your right, now that I look at it, mine doesn't sound nearly as good.

By gum, you're right. I thought about that several times but never got around to fixing it. Thanks for mentioning it.

Heya Jex
this THUMPEN!
Nice start layout. The bass offset is excellent.
Love the the pitchshifting pads! Maybe the frequency is a little too high.
Great guitar layer.
The end part is bizaar. The pitchshifting & off key notes are unsettling, though are interesting. I think it actually gives the track heaps of character.
The new keyboard has definitly changed your style d00d. This is a hell-of-a inprovement to your other tracks. It is so different.
Great layout, great sounds, the mastering is good & the rhythm innovative. Good one Jex!
Xeno.

There's some crispyness missing from the start, else it would sound really ace. Just a high end on the acid thingy, a tad on the kick. The bass and kick need to be pulled out of each other. The bass lies not too well in the mix now. Nice percs added, and I really like the clap. The hats are a bit soaked dont you think? Remove a bit of verb . The pads and synths are pressing away the percs, that's really a shame, these percs (I mean the clap as well) need to be upfront and you should make more room for them. Try to just lower the volume of the synths here.
Watch the verb meter overall. The melody is just not my taste, too weird hehe, so I won't say anything more on it.
Weird but good track overall, I hope you can clear and crisp it up.
