Dog Running [Breaks] Yahel - Voyage (Oh Mint Remix) [Unfinished Sample]

Well i didnt get this finished for the competition, mainly down to the fact that i dont like the melody for voyage and couldnt manage to make anything else that i really thought worked well. So this remix as it is has a rather weak lead and is lacking in some extra effects and such to keep it from being boring but i still like how it turned out. If i had managed to make a decent lead then i would have been pretty pleased with it.

Anyway might as well share what i did rather than just leave it languishing on my hd

Very nice breakbeat - and i like the way you bring the melody in very subtle. Bass is great too - this one could've done well in the contest

I'm sorry, I submitted, so I can't leave a countersample or too much 'I would..' So let's go.

Nice pads. Bit dry. Breakbeat is big sounding and I read you, but it lacks variety for now *yawn*. No surprise, it ain't yet finished.
Bass is a bit pushed back in the mix and not really fond of the sound.. maybe it's this breakbeat style i'm not fully digging.
You have to have some imagination to get the voyage feeling up until 3:50.

Nice swing to the original and fun to hear.

This is a really cool track, good melodies. I've always liked this sort of "breakbeat trance", it sounds so fresh in my opinion. Keep up the good work.

its a nice rendition and clean sounding. i like the strings and the 'rock' sounding drums. the melodies sound a bit clashing at points but there is a dark sound going down.

shame this isnt entered.

break- really enjoying. the strings melody is moving as is the synth with it.. but could have been extended.

overall a nice rendition-if a bit 'obvious' as a breakbeat b-side..

good work all round tho!

Hey man, really nice start to the remix. The breakbeat is definitely fat, the strings nice and strong, and the bass is good too. I love the background muted guitar line, keeps the song feeling funky despite the big long pad notes and the heavy bass.
Obviously this ain't finished but it just needs some attention to detail and it'd be sweet!

Yes, nice track here.

Breaks are fairly 101 imho. They sound good, but by breaks standard they are fairly tame. Thats not to say it doesnt work... which is does... just that a few varied fills would have helped spice things up.

Like you say, the lead isn't quite right. I can appreciate that it would have been hard to match a Yahel track. The guy really loves his nords which are tricky.

A very considered and progressive structure though and the EQ'ing on the layers is superb. Theres a lot going on but its all separated quite nicely. Strings are lush and the break samples are well tuned.
