---------------- FINAL SCORES CHALLENGE 10

It's been quite close, a real battle has been going on, especially when you look at the scores we judges seperately came up with.

(Beatmatch - Harmonics - Trackselection)

Opponent 1:
23 - 23 - 22: 68
24 - 23 - 22: 69
91,3%

Opponent 2:
23 - 24 - 23: 70
23 - 20 - 23: 66
90,7%
------------------------------------------

Congratulations Opponent 1, whoever you may be.

Some comments:
Opp. 1: Nice keymatching in this one, made a difference for me.

Opp. 2: Good to hear some other style, it's been a pleasure, I liked the energy. Tbh, I don't know what style it actually is, please help me out.

Great mixing both of you!

Mix 1

Safe Start but uninventive. 1-2 under-bassed. Smoothe though with good beat match. 2-3 will made - slight beaat errors but nothing to cry over. Great melodics.

3-4 good beats but melodics let it down. 4-5 had great beats and melodically sat well 5-6. Annoying when your last transition goes wrong a little. Not the greatest of beats but the melodics were fine.

Beats 22/25 Melodics 23/25 Track selection 23/25

One Word: Safe.

Mix 2

Started in the way I like. Dark, Deep and moody. Mixing from 1-2 and 2-3 is to obvious, too sharp and immediate.

3-4 was better, but still noticable. 4-5 was different again with far too much going on. 5-6 again busy.

Overall though...

Beats 23/25 Melodics 24/25 Track Selection 23/25

One word: Solid.

Alot may be made of my Melodics score on mix 2 - Thing is, melodics will be high if the mix is snapped in quickly. I had mix 2 down as the winner just, but Jay had it the other way, The way it goes and i'm 100% with the result

Challenge Victor: Opponent 2
Challenge Runner-Up: Opponent 1

Score Explanations From Mark V -
Competition 11
Opponent 1

Track Selection and Play Order:
Very professional track decisions here; I felt from the opening track that it had a professional feel to it, and it really flowed through the entire way through. The play order I felt fit very nicely, but the last transition could have used a bit more of energy instead of returning back to a Progressive state so quickly.

Score: 24

Beat Matching:
Well above adequate here; the beat matching was absolutely beautiful, I enjoyed the transitions thoroughly. I only heard from a background noise one “error” that I don’t think many people would pick up on.

Score: 24

Transition Harmonics:
Transition 1: Your first transition was good, quite good. The first track was a professional sounding tune, very sly and smooth. However you could have brought in your second track in just a bit earlier to keep that same beautiful melody, but I understand how hard that is especially dealing with Progressive, great transition; it was the quality I was expecting coming from track the wise track selection.
Transition 2: Very professional, very smooth and methodical I thought, great stuff, the average listener would not pick up on that, I barely could.
Transition 3: You kept the mood right here very nicely, it had a different flow to it which kept the listener interested, if you had played another track of the same melody it wouldn’t have been as attractive, this I though was a good transition in mood, flow, and beat matching.
Transition 4: I really found this interesting, especially looking from the outside in. Many DJs would come back to what they originally set for in the very beginning, but you remained very controlled here and kept the mood methodical and deep, but you brought in a new aspect, vocals; excellent track selection here and the beat matching is remarkable.
Transition 5: The vocals of the last track really brought an uplifting sense to the mix and I felt that you placed a perfect track coming into this transition; the previous tracks brought you to a dark, methodical landscape, and the listeners slowly followed the vocals out and into a sense of new found energy. A good sold decent transition.
Transition 6: A very well mixed transition, however I felt that you could have continued that sense of excitement from the previous Prog House track.

Overall Transition Harmonic Overview:
The definition of harmonic is:
Pleasing to the ear: harmonic orchestral effects.

With that in mind, I felt as though you are a DJ that can really control the emotion of the audience. You set the mood with each track; beautiful melodies and an overall welcoming flow to this mix really set precedence from the very beginning. I felt like this mix was put together at a professional standard of quality, great job.

Where to Improve: If anything, it would be endurance, towards the end, it’s naturally to become tired and it becomes harder to choose the wisest track to play next, if you can keep that up, I believe you’ll do amazing; I believe you’re ready also to apply for a residency if you want it badly enough.

Score: 24

Competition 11
Opponent 2

Track Selection and Play Order:
Great track selection, very professional and concise choices; how the play order had only one mishap I felt during transition three where it took a mood turn that was somewhat unexpected, but overall it was great.

Score: 23

Beat Matching:
Your beat matching is seamless from what I can tell; you performed each transition with prestige and poise, well above adequate.

Score: 25

Transition Harmonics:
Transition 1: Great first track, it sounds very professional and deep. You brought in the sounds of the second track with great timing; the transition really picked up with a bang right where it was meant to, good job.
Transition 2: Oh! I really like this second track a lot, it has some familiar sounds that I hear in my psy trance quite often, but it’s held in a progressive state, quite interesting. The sounds of the third track really matched well the transitional track, great pick. The beat matching was beautiful and articulate.
Transition 3: Good transition here beat matching wise; the flow was almost halted however, it felt like the happy sounds of the previous tracked were discarded and the mood took a 180 degree to the depths of a harder landscape.
Transition 4: Very interesting transition here, very complex and busy, something very hard to maintain and you maintained it brilliantly, excellent transition! That really gained you back some points, impressive I would say.

Where to Improve: Just on one transition I found a bit of mood confusion, but you maintained a level of professionalism and kept with it and didn’t swat back and forth between any particular moods of the mix.

Score: 24

This was an A+ battle to the very end, I was thoroughly impressed by the both of you, it was an honor to take part in judging your work; it was close to the very end! Great job both opponents!

Not sure about this auto-win situation.

If You cannot post a mix, don't accept or make a challenge!!!

What do you think Sphere, 3 and your out?

maybe we should have at least 3 judges in each challenge.

I know that this would take more time and less challenges.

Look:

quote:

Opponent 1:
23 - 23 - 22: 68
24 - 23 - 22: 69
91,3%

Opponent 2:
23 - 24 - 23: 70
23 - 20 - 23: 66
90,7%

we two were nearly even. The reason why I won -> Judge 1 gave opponent 2 24 points in harmonics and judge 2 only 4. Thats a 4 point difference. 24 points mean that you are nearly perfect and 20 mean that u are very good.

And 4 points are a huge difference and these challenges, because normally all contestants get points in the range of 20-25.

If we have 3 judges, the results would be a bit more accurate.

If 2 judges are 1 or 2 points away from each other in one categorie, it doesn't make that huge difference, but 4 points could turn a challenge around completely.

Or look at challenge 7

quote:

Opponent 1
Judge1: 20 / 19.5 / 18.5
Judge2: 22 / 24 / 21

Opponent 2
Judge1: 19 / 18 / 18
Judge2: 23 / 21 / 21

There is a 4.5 difference in harmonics @ opponent 1 and 4, 3 and 3 point differences on opponent 2. If there was a third judge there would be a clearer decision.

so what are you trying to say exactly?

just 3 judges to a challenge and that's it?
