Most people haven't commented about it because they are listening to the track with dance music ears, and dance music is heavily compressed, but if an acoustic rock person were to hear it, he'd have to agree that the track is too compressed for the genre, or compressed with the wrong settings.

The track is great don't get me wrong, but the vocals just don't go. Autotuned tech vocals never mixed well with laidback acoustic rock, and probably never will...If you wanna keep the acoustic feel and the techy vocals, I'd suggest listening to Top40 radio. Usually in the techy vocoder verses, you'll hear a synthpop type of beat, and when the natural chorus comes on, the track switches to instruments that rely on live musicians...

The delay effects on the vocals are extremely superfluous... Why did you put them?

A metronome is extremely key when producing any kind of remix especially to an EDM track. The vocals seem to dodge the time of the track... I know you were trying to be realistic, but in this case you should have stuck to a locked computer time. In a live band session, the vocalist must always follow what the players are doing, when they slow down, he/she must slow doing their singing as well, same goes with speeding up, so must the players fit with what the vocalist is singing... This interdependance the players and singers have among each other is what makes a good band. What I hear here sounds like if the vocalist is doing her time, and you're just doing yours. Remixing is as legitimate an artorm as playing in a band, you've gotta find that common ground between your music and the song you're remixing. You've got to put the original artist's vision into perspective as well as putting yours. Remixing isn't about taking a song and doing whatever you want to it, in an attempt to make your remix more important than the original song.

I don't see how an acoustic remix can be impossible for this song. I believe it can be done, but you've failed to see Delerium's perspective, that's why this track failed as a remix. Although would be great as an instrumental... or with original vocals for that matter.

im not being funny but wot a load of aristocratic bullshit!

i know ur only trying to be nice in ur whole comment but that is the biggest load of pompous wank ive ever seen on these forums. ffs the guy isnt part of Delerium so no he doesnt have a grasp of wot the fuck they doing to the song and the lyrics in the first place. All Chris did was take the lyrics and make them into a different tune. and all you've come across as in that post is an arrogant little ****.

Note to self: Never give a detailed review, and always jump on the bandwagon and agree with the majority of the posts.

The whole purpose of posting a track on the producers production forum is to get exposure and get constuctive criticism. If you don't like my critique, why don't you think of something better than just agreeing with everyone else? You called the man a raging homo. I don't think that's funny even if it was joking around.

Your review is the most subjective post I've seen in a long time. Sounds like it was written by a good old pal or a teenie-bopper fan, instead of someone who was actually listening and commenting on everything they heard.

i think critiquing and criticising this track for being labelled as "acoustic" is not fair... maybe relabelling it to "chillout" would do it justice.

i'd find it very hard that there are set compression settings for each genre... sounds kind of ridiculous

this is strictly my opinion, but i think that the purpose of a remix is to give NEW perspective to the song. I think remixing a track can add completely different emotion and convey thoughts that are on the other end of the spectrum: it is up to the producer to take a melody or whatever it is that makes the original track unique and turning it around and putting their own spin on it.

taking a completely non-trance example of this would be the (relatively) new A Perfect Circle's Album, where in their single, they took Lenon's "Imagine" and completely put a dark twist on it. Good or bad is up to you, but they definately have their own interpretation of it. Hope I drove my point across

I think the remix did not fail, it went well and was a very different interpretation of a popular trance song (same has happened with a few Madonna-converted-to-trance songs)

Have you ever heard the original? They ARE the original vocals...the vocoded ones...from their OWN remix package...from DELERIUM themselves...as is the GUITAR So there was nothing I could do to stop them being vocoded im afraid !

As for the rest of your post, I actually feel fairly offended...

I do not mind your constructive critisims, i embrace them. But for someone to tell me that I have "failed" in remixing the track is a bit of a slap in the face, at least the track is finished?!

You say that "remixing isn't about taking a track and doing whatever you want to it", i have to disagree. Thats the beauty of it! I feel when im remixing a track, that what I am doing is what I would have done given that I had made the melodys etc etc. My own personal perspective on a track.

As for EQing etc i not a total dummy Yea im not amazing at mastering, but im learning still...i like to think i am progressing :S lol

Sorry to sound an arsehole but I was a bit offended by the nature of your post

Mint stuff!

I don't like the production sorry.
I don't think the guitar fits the vocals. And I don't like the guitar sound, try guitar rig.
I lost a sense of atmosphere.
