There's nothing really more to it than said in the article. The sampled signal in your computer it pure theory, containing frequnecies "mirrored" at every multiple of the samplerate, even negative ones. Like if you sampled a signal containing two sinewaves the original spectrum would look like this:

(with ";" depicting the samplerate and "," as its half)
the postive spectrum of the sampled signal would look like this:
...I..I....,....I..I...;...I..I....,....I..I...;...I..I....,.. (and so on)
Now if push frequencies beyond half the samplerate they start reappearing from higher frequencies going down.
Let's push one tone up: (i'll mark the mirrored ones as "i")

See how the mirrored frequency slowly moves down while the original is pushed opwards? Now as it is assumed that the singnal contained only frequencies up to samplerate/2 everything above is cut off to restore the analog signal. But as we pitched the original up, some of the theoretical mirrored parts slip though and become reality.
As for examples... take a bad softsampler an play a bass sample with lots of harmonics as high as you can. Chances are that you can hear bassnotes counteracting your play.
As the pitch of the aliases also depends samplerate, its very hard to impossible to use the effect in a musical way. But be aware of it, as it can add unwanted material to your mix.
