You don't have a clue about percussion, Nik. I'm only joking, of course. I've no need for your tutorials, though, since I can just continuously recycle all the bits of percussion you've come up with for my productions during the last couple of years. Harhar!
How about doing a 'kick combining' tutorial? I can usually finally get a decent one with 2 kicks, but never as good as the sample

I don't know, really - the main thing is to have good samples to begin with, I guess. Sometimes the same kick can sound very different in different tracks. I've used this same one in several productions and it's never really sounded quite the way it does in this particular track.
I've been drumming a LONG >.< time and it took me a while to realize the huge amount of ways (almost all) and why dance music differs. There's tons of stuff involved. People may say dance percussion is all the same but they never get a chance to look past the simple patterns (sometimes not simple) and turn up the music and feel it thump
A cool thing that just worked (I just started working on something awesome tonight, I hope i can share with you guys eventually ): Build a drum beat (like first page of this thread, except with a lot more stuff (not dissing your first page stuff; it owns)) and build your lead around that and get going from there. If you make a thumping enough and awesome beat, you can both tune your track to it (if that makes sense) and build the rhythm specific to your drums. Really shows the musicality (+10 cool new word) of drums, even in dance music.

The tutorial is pretty old now, the links are probably down for good.
Maybe it's time for part 2?
