Seeking honest feedback on a new trance song

(non direct) Link to song. 56k-friendly streaming available (or if you just want to make sure this song doesn't suck ass before committing the time and space of a 12 meg download)

So, this is the result of a collaboration with another trance producer, Kevin Foreman, who cut his own version of the song on his website. My version has a hard-trance edge, and a tech-trance influence, but never really dives into either genre. (I changed my direction twice, but the old ideas still hang around.)

It's a fully DJ-friendly song, and I'm looking for brutally honest feedback and criticism in all areas. More than anything, I'm trying to improve, so suggestions on what you do or don't like will be immensely helpful, and I promise it won't hurt my feelings.

Fire away.

checking the track right now not bad so far... i likes.. lower the reverbing sound in b/w ur kicks a little bit its really loud you want it to accent the kicks not drown em... the bassline needs to get a little thicker its sounds hollow and fake... not feeling it... the transitions are nice tho i'm liking em...getting progressive not so much hard as you said... yeap definately take out that sound bite reverbing in the beginning by the time your transition hits to the snare and hi hat... they dont sound right together...bringi it back for the melody like you did and keep it underlying the melody as u have that sounds dope... but work on the fade out at the main melody hits ((bad ass melody by the way i like it a lot!!)) loving the build up...peakingggggg... anddddd fucking sick!! it sounds like 2 different songs thrown together the beginning sounds edgier than the rest of the track... it starts edgy and hard and then dwindles off to progressive... sounds good i likes... nice breakdown but it takes a while to happen... i usually mix out of tracks by the 6th minute of play so that it doesnt get annoying to the crowd... bring in the break down of the track sooner to make it more dj friendly... other than that great track take care of what i said and you'll have a great piece on your hands...

PM or email me if u can do a preliminary sound byte of the track with the edits i suggested if you do them and like the sound... oh and what program did u use to produce?

i have a near finished track poster on this same forum check it and be as brutal =)...

Like this percussion riff that songs start with much, tho as soon as the kick comes this riff is certainly too much in volume. Lower it and it will work great. Bassline is kind of strange, I hear it mildly cycling through panning space on HPs, if its intentional, i dont really like it You also might want to adjust some volumes, bass notes vary much when you put it octave up-make those lower. Buildup melody is nice, hardtrance style. I do have an issue with clap. It don't really work well imo, its to high in pitch, sounds somehow cartoonish over the heavy background synths. Try to EQ the highs away a bit, or make it play lower. Transition to break is nice, however, when the melody starts playing, id like to hear a crash cymbal or something simmilar in intention. Melody is nice, i like it a bit dirty...
...
hm, I think that melody change was unnecessary, since you change it back in a bar or two. The climax is nice, mfirst melody ain't bad at all, work very well. Now the alternative melo is back for a brief again.
Im unsure what to think of it. Its cool on its own, but not in a such mixup. I might suggest you to try bringing that melody to play steady ower second half of the climax.... that might work very well actually.
The slow down melody after break is nice, breaks down to outro nicely.

A word about rhytm. I think the hihats are way too simple. You got this beginning riff+hihat that is folowed by the open and clap. You might try to spread you percussion a bit over freqs, all of it is very sharp and hight now. Add some hihats and filter them or pitch them down. That adds to depth and complexity.

Tehical mumojumbo: Id look onto volumes a little bit more.
In the climax, i can't hear a slightest hint of bass, and a whole too much of openhat+clap and melody. Rise the bass, lower melody some and cut a db or two off the hats. Overall, whole song would benefit of a little cutdown of the hight freqs. a tiny bit.

Hope I proved helpfull

Not a member over there so I guess thats why i get the lofi in a window

Buildup is a bit too long for me. The melody doesn't really do it, tho the second part of it is fun to listen to. Overall it could use more dynamics in arrangement. All the sounds used sound pretty decent, try to post a direct link with higher quality!

Okay.

The bandwith can be for SHIT, though. ( I can't win. )

Oh, and because I forgot to answer this earlier, me and the person I collaborated with used Fruityloops, because that's the only common software we had.
