Ethereal - Monsoon [Progressive]

Hey all,

It's been forever since I've posted in these forums. My apologies for that: school has kept me very very busy these past few months.

However, I've finished a new song in a relatively new style. This is more chilled and relaxed. I didn't even chop up the breaks (even though I really wanted to) and kept things simple. Let me know what you think.

First Song on List: MONSOON [4 min sample]

hey man. good to hear a finished version of this one. i like all the filter stuff you have going on throughout the tune, really adds to it. i'm not sure if i like that lead going without the bass following it as it does later. that sine line you have going on seems to be absolutely identical to the one in the collab between you and som.

there also seems to be some sort of skip after the filter at 3:03. i love how it all comes back in on the second measure, clever.

very chill and very nice piece.

now you can get crackin on that silver sun remix

Indeed very chill. I really enjoy this break down, that synth that is in the background that slowly filters in... then out... then in! and in with the kick. But I think it could have used a bit more presence.

2nd part. Breakdown #2
COol atmos effects. break beat break down, heard like 3 now today so perhaps i'm biased. Good drums though, everytime i hear something like this I wanna go bump some Hybrid.

Yea skiP? oh well things back to normal. really good man, keep up the good work.

Love this. Massively peaceful and soul-soothing with sulucent breaks and pads. This is what you're good at man.

nice production man!

i do like the synths here, quite relaxing.

bass could use some work imo.

break is nice done, but i don't think it'has a decent building climax
(in first breaK)

second break is cool with the breakbeats, but the climax lacks some extra

thats all Tyler mate

this defo ain't prog

some of the effects on the track are really good and the melodies are very cool. however i find the mix to be rather muddy and drowned by the bass in parts

quality breakbeat as always

massive and luke: i named it progressive due to it's lack of climax... i modeled this after a few progressive songs i've heard on ASOT (not necessarily proggy but more geared towards proggy trance)

luke, i've noticed the muddiness as well and will look into that... can you give me any more suggestions on how to clean it up?

many thanks for the comments... any more would like to comment on this?

- nice synth layering
- that lead at 0:30 could sound much better if you used different notes
- like already mentioned, the buildup towards 2:00 should be more intense, and yet more smooth
- breaks are pretty nice, though could use more variations with the snare
- overall - chilled out atmosphere, i liked it

Dude pretty nice work on this one.

The synths used are pleasant to listen to. The 4/4 beat is a bit of a disappointment after that very cool breakbeat part. Why not create a break mix for opening sets? Yeh I certainly love the breaks man!

Mix is a bit blurry, try to clear it up just a bit.

No this ain't progressive, it has far too much trancy influences, and too fast too.

Go for breaks all the way!
-Jay

the melody sample reminds me of the better part of synergy - hello strings.

overall, not much to complain about, sounds really good, really relaxing. very nice. im interested to hear a full sample (unless of course it's being tied up in the whole label scene )

cheers!
