I read somewhere that this is exactly why women are attracted to jerks ... they want to tame the jerk into a nice guy. It's an exciting challenge for the woman, and if she succeeds, she knows that she's a special woman indeed because most women couldn't change him.
(I'd like to add: If the guy's a convicted, violent, habitual criminal, the woman would also know that she's the only person in the world who's able to get near the soft side of him. And she would feel very feminine, being the pillar of society who builds a home around an unlikely husband, and keeps him in order.)
There's some evidence to support this theory. If you look at womens' romantic literature, the male hero is usually either a bad guy or an aloof career man who's been too busy to meet a special woman. The female hero spends the length of the book transforming him into husband-material.
This theory also says that nice guys are not attractive because they are nice to every person, so the woman can't know if he's nice to her because of her, or just out of habit even if he doesn't consider her any special.
I personally don't believe this theory because I think that an attractive person = an attractive person, independent of niceness and other non-essential attributes. I mean ... why do girls fall for a movie star ... it's because he's attractive ... the girls can't have any idea whether he's nice or an . So the movie stars seem to refute the theory of women wanting to use their feminine charm to change jerks into nice guys.
But it's still an interesting theory, anyway ;) |
its sad but true....amen to this |

i dont go to any lengths to try and make people like me, it just comes natural... only time i turn into an idiot, is when people deservedly require putting in there place.
i think what your getting at is, what lengths do i go to, to satisfy a person?... well i dont try to satisfy, im an open minded person, and im willing to take on new ideas and such, so its not like i try my hardest to please people or to be nice to them, it all comes naturally :) |

Probably because either they keep getting sick of you, or 2. They get really paranoid, and turn very controlling, which brings out the in them.
I guess my girlfriend is lucky with me then. |

Why DO girls fall for movie stars? I can only speculate but my guess is that's because it shows more than just their looks. There is also interaction between the beloved movie star and other characters that provides insight on his personality, and of course the fact that he is the star usually makes the viewer (boy or girl) identify with him, so we feel like we know him (even though we don't).
Oh and btw, most movie stars ARE jerks, so your point is actually supporting the theory... |
