But what I was trying to say is that a lot of American dudes always cry that Tiesto is bad and only wins because he's populair. And thats crap!! And I know for sure there are crybabies here who never see the dude spinning.
And there was a dude that says that Tiesto maybe becomes a ass if he win again. But I can tell you that when i shake hands with him last thursday that he is still the same dude. :) |
I'm glad to hear that man. I'm a huge fan, and collect all his old cds and records and stuff. I just want him to stay a nice guy, and not forget his fans. That's all. :D I think he's much better this year than 2002 tbh, so he should have won this year and not last. |

NightCreature, I am very aware that people on TA know their when it come to electronic music. UNFORTUNATLY this poll isnt exclusive to TA. THIS IS A POPULARITY CONTEST....thats what it is and if you try to deny this then you're an idiot. Im not taking anything away from tiesto's #1 spot....I KNOW hes an amazingly talented man, I dont need YOU to tell me that.
Hundreds of thousands of people will vote in this poll. You know how many ing teenie boppers will be voting for people like tiesto because thats the only name they have ever heard in DJ'ing. EVERYONE knows who tiesto is....no matter what genre they listen to tiesto is known. I know hardcore rockers that went to see tiesto in Vancouver a while back, its the same world round. Its the biggest Names that win, like always.
I am guessing that tiesto will win again, obviously for his dj/producing but also for the bias i just talked about
ANYONE who knows their knows knows to take this poll with a
grain of salt. |

I would think peeps who subscribe to DJ Mag would know a thing or two about the industry. Have you taken a look at the full top 100 list? Just about anyone good is on it. Granted that they are not all in the top 10, but hey, at lest enough people know about them to get them on the list. Here are a few DJs that would not be on the list of everyone who voted fitted your description:
10 Lee Burridge
12 Danny Howells
13 Steve Lawler
15 Sander Kleinenberg
16 Deep Dish
19 Hernan Cattaneo
29 Marco V
30 Satoshi Tomiie
32 Seb Fontaine
36 John 'OO' Fleming
39 James Zabiela
59 Matt Hardwick
65 Chris Fortier
91 Hybrid
And there are LOTS more, I'm just too hungry to list them all.
Out to eat lunch at 5pm :wtf: |

Tiesto himself said he's not the best on the turntables...he won the dj 2002 award because of his past. Anyone remember Tiesto @ Innercity 99? or Energy 2000? or his In Search of Sunrise Compilations? or Magik series? or his In My Memory album? or his numerous #1 productions? and his lengthy list of remixes?
hello...thats a fair amount of accomplishments from a trance dj. it's not because people think he was the best dj on the decks in 2002...it's because of what he contributed to trance. someone start a thread on here asking how many people got into trance because of tiesto and you have your answer |

| anyways for 2003 I would like Sasha to be given the award...although he hasn't done much this year his past makes up for it...he deserves it...or PVD |

HOLY ! A man after my own heart. Totally agree!!!! What is the BIG deal about this guy???
PVD, PLEASE go back to your old way. |
Now not liking PVD as much as some people, I still feel inclined to deffend this! Although He is not the best Dj of the year, he played a sub-human 6hr set at Gatecrasher! There was no random parts, which I really hate! It was amazingly structured and 6 hrs of banging trance with some chunky bits to go with it! Probably one of the best set I have ever had the witness of hearing, and deffo the best set of the year so far!
His mixing was better than any DJ I have ever heard, and in 6 hrs he only made one small error! All of the other mixes were amazingly technical! He wasnt just standing there mixing tunes either! He was actualy being a dj, using little tricks and teasing the crowd with bits of other tunes before he actualy mixed them in! The atmosphere he created that night was one of the best I have ever seen in Gatecrasher!
No, it....PVD has been the best DJ of the year for me! Followed Ferry Corsten. |

Ok... First of all you have completely misunderstood my main point. I’ll highlighted for you... “Many TAs, including myself, are not voting for Tiesto because of his popularity” It was kind of insulting for you to make such a generalization. Anyway…
Now back to this ranking thing… what you are proposing is to look at all the productions/live acts/awards/etc for year 2003? Since it's only June I would have to consider his productions and live acts of 2002 as well.

man.. this poll IS NOT about productions. It asks "What's the best dj in the world". It's about mixing skills, track selection, handling the pressure in front of a big crowd... What happens is that many of the ppl that vote instead of looking to mixing skills and such, just put the name of their fave 5 producers, or 5 djs that impressed them with old sets. That's how it reflectes popularity, and not the pure dj skills. I don't argue that tiesto has contributed a lot to trance, made a few great productions and great sets. But you seem to be missing my point at all too... |
