It's bad for their raging hormones, riight?
And plus it is immoral and lewd, for teens to be nude.
(wow, that actually rhymes)

hrmm where can I sign up for the camp???
:eyes: :happy2: :happy2: :happy2:

I dunno about that, I dont think its a great idea to have 11-18 yr old kids running around naked at a camp unless the parents are there day in and day out actively participating with the kids in activities and such or whatever they do....

Yayyyy, just the other day I was thinking that we need more pedophelia camps in this country!

occrider, I was holding out the hope that at least _you_ were an open-minded, relaxed, normal person.

Unfortunately I was wrong.

You are as paranoid and uptight about social issues in this country as the majority of ppl in the country.
Let's paraphrase: You, like the majority of Americans, are hung up on certain things that are a non-issue in other countries.

Come on! Some things are simply inappropriate!

why are topless and nudist beaches found all over the place in Europe?
Why is nobody prosecuting anybody there?

Who are you to tell me (or any other person), what is "appropriate" and what is not?

OK, well when your 14 year old girl comes home with her first 'pearl necklace' I hope you find it equally appropriate given the environment she's been exposed to. You're missing the point--it's not that there's anything wrong with topless beaches in Europe, per se; but that someone wants to create/sponsor them for young children and teenagers. But you're right, it's not for me to tell you how to be a parent.

I too think that America is too conservative, but I am not convinced that pre-pubescent boys and freshly fertile girls should be encouraged to romp around naked together in a social setting. I don't think the government should get involved, I just think it's probably not the smartest, most well thought out decision in the first place.

Not that she might not experience a pearl necklace at 14 otherwise, however I think you're just opening the door that much wider by encouraging the behavior at a younger age before the child is fully matured and understands adult situations and their potential consequences.
Eugene
^^^ in this case, Shakka, let me disappoint you.

For the age that you mentioned -- 14 -- is precisely the one by which 15-20% of Americans kids have already lost their virginity (so you won't be opening any doors for them), while the rest will lose their virginity in the 2-3 years ahead. These are official stats.

No need to be prudish, my friend! Americans are in denial of the sexuality that's going on under their very noses. Their teens already know more about sex than their parents. Yet the parents roll their eyes in disbelief at any occurrence of "immoral nudity." And any TV program that shows a nipple is censored. Wow.

I couldn't give two s about how other people raise their kids ... just so long as they aren't abusing them. And I have nothing against adult nudist camps. But bringing your kids into the mix goes a little too far. It's essentially going to turn into spawning grounds for every low-life pedophile to make it their life mission to join these nudist camps. Furthermore, as was stated before, with kids raging hormones as they are growing up, you want to add attractive, young, nude, female bodies to the mix? Yes the average age of having sex is 14 or whatever ... what do you think is going to be the average age of sex at these nudist camps? I used to live in Europe so I know all about nudity on tv, beaches, pools, etc. However, adults relaxing on the beach and nude is one thing ... adults and children doing everything in the nude is quite something else.

So call me uptight about it  ... I view it as having the foresight to be able to put 2 and 2 together to figure out what's going to happen.
Eugene
Occrider, so please answer the following question.

You have no problem with topless beaches like those in Europe, right?
Good. Now consider:

Suppose there are young European girls on that beach, age 16 let's say, who are topless. Is that unlawful?! Is that bad? I guarantee there are boys on that beach who are also 16. So: what to do, if anything?
Oh my God, there will be predators! :eyes:

Vesa - cheers :)
