Further more, what "fight ain't over yet"? What difference does it make to you whether homosexuals are legally allowed to marry or not? What right do you think you have to tell people what they can and cannot do with their own lives?

I'm with you brother! Damn straight those goddamned fruits will be rapin our children and brainwashing us with them free sex attitudes! Why just the other day I saw one of them fruit cakes drinking from a straight only water fountain! I bashed him up good with my billy club. Like my pappy always said, you start giving in to these uppity neeegroes and then all the fags, child molesters, spics, and jews start moving into the neighborhood and corruptin our way of life! |

i personally have been around gay people all my life...i was raised in the unitarian church, was in dance for 5 years and have been in theatre since i was 11. some of my best friends are gay, as is my uncle. i've asked several of them how long they've known, or at what age did they sense they were different and they told me as early as 5 years old. it's not a choice as some people like to say it is. it's a part of who they are.
why should we restrict their lives and their happiness for something they can't control? and who are we to say what's "wrong and right" anyway?
what pisses me off is that the objection to homosexuality comes from a religious stance. "the bible says it's wrong" and all that crap. i have my separate issues with the bible, and the fact that people use sodom and gamora (sp? i don't feel like looking it up) to justify deeming homosexuality a sin. i won't get into that...but our country is NOT a theocracy. opinions sparked by a religion should not be taken into consideration when deciding laws that govern an entire body of diverse people.
it's the same thing with abortion. why should the government have the right over a woman's body, just like why should they have a right over two people that love eachother, regardless of their sexual orientation?
THEY SHOULDN'T!!

You act like with this argument, there is only one right answer. There is no right answer to the question...so any view is legit.
Frankly being a white anglo saxon CHRISTIAN myself, if people want to be gay and declare it to the world then fine but I have always viewed marriage as a sacred institution between a man and a woman. I will always feel that way about this issue.
Other thing I don't get is if you are any other religion that opposes gay marriages besides christians and catholics then it is completely legit but the minute a christian stands up for what he or she believes...we are instantly branded anti gay and bigots. Pathetic if you ask me..Christians (besides the crazed right wing ppl in the usa and Canada) are not technically anti gay. Since we believe the Bible to be absolute truth (which is a total topic in itself)..It says that homosexuality is a sin...so we christians don't engage in promoting homosexuality. We don't say kill the gays...or they are scum of the earth....we just say we feel it is not right and we wish they were not granted the same marriage rights as others.
Now I'm sure some of you angry bigots who believe your opinion is absolute will tell me....i'm completely wrong. It is my beliefs and you don't see us attacking you on yours...so why do it to ppl..just for being a christian..

Yesterday Bush had a press conference where he said that gays were "sinners" (although he admitted everyone is a "sinner").
I'm wondering, how can someone be a sinner due to something they were born with?!
