well i'm just curious:cool: several years ago i thought that an american wouldn't even understand a term electronica/trance/rave etc. now i realise i was wrong, but still... friends that go to USA say that there are no radio stations nor the tv stations that plays only the electronica music, but here for eg. (in lithuania), there are more than 4 radio stations only for popular and underground trance and techno (and we have only 3,500,000 in population!).
well if i had to evaluate what percent of youth (and not only) has an inclination for tecno/trance/rave music in my country it would probably be aprox. 70% and mostly because there's NO rap nor punk neither do rock culture here!
i also know that the electronic music culture is very strong in Germany, UK and India.
SO ENLIGHTEN ME!.. tell me what i don't know!:conf: :eyes:  |

Brazilian Rave scene is based mostly in three cities: São Paulo, Belo Horizonte and Brasília. Drum'n'bass has been pushed to mainstream by the DJ's from São Paulo, although there are no radio stations that play exclusevely dance music (maybe in São Paulo there is, but there are just programmes here in Brasilia though). Psy-trance, techno and tech-house are also popular here. Acid techno has some appeal in Southern Brazil, as far as I know.
The scene exists in other cities (Rio, for example), obviously, but not as much as in the ones I mentioned above.
You didn't know that, did you? :D |

| I LOVE my country and everything, but it really pisses me off how the majority of the people listen rap and pop. So Many times, when i have been asked what kind of music i listen to, and I answer "Trance", people have literally said "what the is THAT?!" As if totally appalled that i don't listen to "P Diddy" or jay z or any of that stuff. I get teased by a lot of my friends for liking it too. people here just aren't really open to that kind of stuff. I'd have to say that about maybe......15-20% of Canadians truly enjoy the electronic scene and the rave culture. However, those 15-20% of us ROCK!!:tongue2 |

well, i feel really sorry for ya... here in LTU if someone would say "hey i like new Britney tune" he would actually be understood as if he liked the songs super pumpin' insane remix or smth if you understand what i mean. no one, and i mean it, listen to this kind of crap here. even my mom, sings along with Alice Deejay, Brooklyn Bounce or deep dish rmx's, and she's in mid 40's...
i don't wanna offence the americans, but MTVeurope just recently began showing the american MTV shows and honestly i'm terrified! what kind of ty music is this? i would personally agree to erase my memory about TRL!:nervous: :nervous: :nervous:
anywho... if i had thoughts to leave lithuania, now i've decided not to :haha: :haha: :haha: |

Wow, really? I wanna move to the "Canada" you live in, because in the Canada I live in that percentage would be about 40 times less, if not more. I mean here in Toronto alone there's just a handful of us, and TO is one of the most multi-cultural cities in Canada. |

the West Coast/california rave scene is pretty big. its based in mostly North Cali (san francisco, fresno) and south cali (Los angeles)
the east coast scene is pretty big as well in DC and Baltimore but sort of dying down here in New England/NYC.
Everyone knows what electronic music is, but rare ever listen to it here in the U.S. Also most ravers/clubbers here in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island etc are stupid stereotypical candy kids who's view of electronic music doesnt go past the boundaries of DJ Irene, Richard Humpty Vission and Louie Devito...... sad isnt it??
then again there are the people who follow their music almost religiously. these are mostly the underground DJ's and clubber who head out every weekend to a party or club in Boston/New York to see a good dj spin. American Mainstream music doesnt accept most electronic because that "techno" music is hard, cold, repeative, and has no soul or feeling. House and Trance have broken into the radio and television every know and then but its nothing but cheese really. Progressive and Breaks are starting to get sum air play on underground radio stations but that about it. |
