Yes a kick is required for trance, thats like saying a Heavy Metal song without Guitars.
Breaks and Build-ups, as well as the tempo of the track all have factors of the genre. |

I gave up heavy metal a few years ago for trance.
Trance has got more power, plus lots of sexy females to make things a lot more interesting. Evanescence is somewhere in the gap as an exception. Just give me a Jan or Juistine or Mavie with some Tiesto or Armin or Oakey to back 'em up and I'm good to go. :D

It never ceases to amaze me how close minded people can be. Oh well, your loss not mine.
Take some stuff by Tangerine Dream. No 4/4 kicks, but that IS trance music, more so than a lot of the crap that gets peddled as “trance” these days.

Actually I think the kick makes the tune then again, I've heard good trance without kicks...does not work as well in clubs tho. |

Well of course not! But if you were to take an amazing trance track and take away the kick, then you would still consider it to be trance. Correct?
