I HATE GLOW! :whip:

I arrived at 10:30 with tom, and we waited for arturo and edgar to go in, which was at about 11. after they checked my id and i was about to go in the club, i was waiting for everyone else to get id'd and checked. i could see a couple people who worked at glow inside babbling while looking at me. then another one of the security guards or whatever the they are comes up to me and goes "let me see your id." and tom was like "uhh they already checked it." and he goes "well i want to see it for myself, you look like you're 16 years old." i was so ing pissed, but i felt like laughing at him when he saw my id was real.

anyways, i stood around while edgar was spinning, i was so tired from the drive. i liked his set, when he told me he was gonna be spinning house, i was a little eh, but it was good. so a little before paul came on me and tom tried to squirm our way to the front. we got into a decent spot, but i was getting thrown around and pushed like it was nobodies business. then my hair got caught in between two ing people and i screamed because i swear i felt like it was going to rip right out of my head. the fact that it was like sardines packed into a ing can in there really turned me off. when paul came on all i wanted to do was dance, but there was no room to even move. the only reason why i moved at all is because people kept bashing into me. tom and i decided to go around the bar areas to see if there was some more room, but it was basically just as crowded there as it was by the booth.

i couldn't enjoy myself, i come to see pvd to enjoy his sets and dance to the music, not to be thrown around and have everyones sweat give me a shower. so we left after pvd played about five tracks, it was pretty upsetting, i really wanted to stay for his whole set, but whatever. maybe i was just tired last night and it made me extra cranky, but i know i'll never be going back to glow again.

heh...i know that wasn't really a review, but i had to rant.

can't wait till roxy. :p

Jeeze- seems like a very uninspired set. I will not be pleased if he repeats those songs like that, tho I'm sure he will.... I'm gonna have to agree w/Art here- he can do better for track selection.
Srezic
Shannon, i know exactly how you felt heh. I think everyone there did. The crowdedness is horrid for big events.

But it only turns out like that for PvD and Tiesto. All other events there is much more room.

And about the guy who double-ID'd you, dont think twice about it. The Insomnia bouncers/security guys are all retarded. COMPLETELY retarded.

Hope you both come back, but during a less crowded event. Didn't get to meet you guys. Was hard enough plowing through the crowd to even try and find any people I knew.

Oh yeah, and Brian(vtec junkie) told me that he heard that Edgar V had a hard time getting in because they didn't know that he was one of the DJs. So thats why he ended up starting 30 or so minutes late. The bouncers are ridiculous =P. If anyone can confirm this, it'd be great.

 :haha:  ru kiddin me? they didn't know that edgar was one of the dj's??? ok now that is retarded...frankly, i didn't experience the "attack of the killer bouncers" last night...and i will not experience it coz you will not see my face at glow ever!!!

sorry all dc ta's no diss intended, but that club just didn't do nothing for me....rueben thanks for the pre warning bout the speaker..yes they were horrible!!!! i'am now partially deaf :wtf:

i'am still to tired to give a review...too long a story to tell, but when i'am fully recovered i shall give my 2 cents bout last night, but for now, beddies bye

omfg. insane night, but tooo tooo tooo hot. gzus. i lost like 20lbs there :p
LuNaSeA
shannon: totally ing agree. i ing hate that club.

ryan: you're so friggin cute!!! *tickle*

i can't believe them.... i think being an idiot is a necessary qualification when being hired as a bouncer/doorman.

anyways, it was too hot, i wasn't dancing at all, i didn't lose my voice (which is bad, bc when i lose my voice i know i had a good time lol) and overall, i didn't think it was worth the drive down for all the we had to go thru-- i'm not just talking about clubbing like sardines but being stuck on the road STOPPED for 45 minutes in the worst accident traffic mess you could have imagine (we just parked the car and started blasting PvD and started dancing in the middle of the highway LOL), jdat's car breaking down in the middle of constitution avenue..more traffic in DC.. ugh!!!!!!! god.

but, it was great seeing peter!! and john, the other john too, ryan, mebot and all u crazy TAs..racing kimmi

hah, im gonna think twice before going to dc again. ryan, u're gonna have to give me some good reasons if u want us to come down there again!!

....:haha:
arturob
no love :(

yeah, the drive definitely wasn't worth it. i figured it'd be more packed than usual for pvd, but i honestly don't know who else i'd drive there for. if i ever come to glow again, it wont be for a looooong, long time.

i forgot to mention that it kinda sucked seeing hardly any ta's. i swear there were maybe like 5 people with vandit tops on, including myself, it was really weird not seeing half the crowd wearing vandit shirts. one person came up to me and was like "what's vandit?" and another was like "whats up vandit!" i was like... are you kidding me? i felt like most of that dc crowd was just there to get drunk and take up space.

Whoa, what's with all the negativity?

I had a great night.. Granted, things have changed since the last time I went to Glow/Insomnia, but I still had a blast. I first started going to Panorama Productions events in mid-2001, but stopped in 2002 due to my lack of interest in Trance music. I think the last time I went to Glow was about a year and a half ago (May 2002).

Going to Glow for PVD was almost a religious experience. You guys have no in' idea how much fun I had.. I spin in Wash, D.C. constantly (3-4 times a week at all the biggest clubs except Insomnia and Nation) and I've *NEVER* had the crowd reaction that PVD had last night. I'm glad to see we STILL have people in DC who like music for MUSIC, not getting drunk and acting very important. If you think Glow sucked, you've obviously never DJed in a typical D.C. club. Paul had people jumping up and down for hours, me included.. I thought his mixing was very on-point, and I loved his track selection too.

You guys are forgetting that you're in the top 5% percentile of Trance music fans. Yes, you already know most of the songs.. I play progressive/tribal/breaks, so most of the music he played I've never heard of before. To me, it was amazing.

I know I wasn't the only one who liked it, either.. When he played "Infusion - Running Up That Hill" around 3:30-4am, I started singing along to it, but I saw at least 5-6 other people just belting it out as well :)

FACT: Last night set a new DJ goal for me -- To achieve what Edgar V and Paul showed us at Glow. If I can have that kind of reaction for 5+ hours, I will be very happy with myself.

Cheers,
Yakov
