TA DRAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i didn't hear it and i could eventualy be good. but G&D seem to be remixing every pop song out there, contributing a lot to the commercialization of progressive. some of the tracks result well (Annie Lennox - A Thousand Beautiful Things  ) while most of them don't amaze me at all.. maybe i just don't like them but seems like they're moving slowly to the comercial/cheese zone -> i fear that in 2, 3 years instead of all the lasgo and ian van dahl's we're gonna have cheesy vocal prog all over the charts. and though G&D doesn't really qualify as commercial crap they're slowly moving to there.
so yeah, why in hell won't they choose a decent track to remix once in a while? again this britney remix could eventualy turn out being good, but britney gotta be the biggest icon of crap music in the world.
and who said justin and madonna make good stuff? :stongue: |

Yeah I agree , I also think he got more talent and he sings nice but still he and britney are in the same level of industrial music so I don't see why for T_whatever it ok to listen to a remixed track of justin but its not ok to listen to a remixed track of britney.

Well they used to and they all of a sudden they started pretty much only remixing commercial songs, they do a good job on remixing them though but I think they would be even better if it was trance songs they were remixing. |
no .. FSCK "evanescence etc." I want some good old G&D one for the road esque tracks again...

O.K seriously this is getting out of hand and completely stupid. This is not the point of the thread and I admit half my posts were out of hand and everyone is entitled to their opinion so I apologize to anyone I've pissed off with my posts and let's stop all the flaming back and forth it's seriously ridiculous. Some like pop, some don't, some like G&D, some don't, end of story (opinions are like s, everyones got one). You don't like someones opinion then thats great for you, I'm sure some agree with you and some don't but who cares. Remember arguing on the net is like being in the special olympics, even if you win ur still retarded.

I'd say they've been doing a pretty good job remixing pop songs. I for one don't really like pop (except on rare occaision) and I will admit that some of their remixes are reaching (they recently finished a remix of Tim Mcgraw :|) but I am a loyal fan and I can see the talent that exists even in their pop remixes and I know they will continue to pump out the good stuff to keep me and the other G&D addicts happy :).
And as for the Justin comment, well ya gotta admit he's one of the better pop stars we've been seeing lately but I think Madonna lost her talent years ago along with her normal accent :stongue: |

If you would actually need a thesaurus to match the vocabulary I used in my last post, then you've proved my point yet again. Cheers. :)

I'm not even going to bother pointing out the sheer hypocricy detected in this line.
About the topic anyway, while it may seem like a logical assumption to say that remixing a Britney track is all about the money, it's something that you can never be sure about. Perhaps Gabriel & Dresden really like the track and have ideas in their head of what they could do with it, then there's nothing to stop them. Or perhaps they want to give themselves a challenge. Personally I think that remixing a pop song into something good, and something completely different is a very good thing and requires a lot of talent. If you keep enough elements of the original for it to be recognisable and pass as a remix, then that shows large amounts of how the remixer can make so much out of so little.
Also, for progressive house and trance remixes of pop songs, it is certainally not something new. The Light (well known and very respected progressive house duo) have already remixed "I'm A Slave For You" by Britney Spears. Also in the mid 90's, Dekkard who was a well known producer of progressive trance and house remixed many non electronic tracks including Paula Cole and OMC and Brothers & Rhythm have done countless of them. Remixing something of a different style is IMO very interesting, especially if they manange to make something good out of something terrible.
If this is a real remix, then yes, I'll definitely take a listen. And no, I don't like Britney Spears either. |
