doesn't say the vid card? thats weird.
change the screensaver/power settings. then reboot and see what happens. if its still donig the same thing boot back into safe mode and then we'll set up the vid card as the standered VGA one so you can get into normal windows, then you can install the drivers for the card. do you happen to know what type of vid card you have exactly? |
thats the thing tho. after i reinstalled xp a few times back i installed the video driver, rebooted and it hibernated. so i dont know if that will help. power settings are not set to hibernate or sleep or anything |

| try fixing the power settings first so your comp. is set to not hibernate or turn off the monitor and such. and then reboot and see what happens |

try reinstalling the drivers that came with your computer if you have them.
if that doesnt work go to here http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/....x=6&submit.y=9
and download those drivers and install them
(i think those should be the ones for your card). |
ive done this several times wwith the drivers and utilities cd i got with the comp TODAY lol, is the website different?? |

well i'd suggest installing the drivers from the ATI website. the ones that came with your comp maybe messed up. |

| also when yo ugo to device manager do you see any errors or exclamation points or anything out of the ordinary? |

its possible that the preinstalled drivers that came with your comp are bad.
they shouldnt be tho, but they could have been installed wrong.
you can download the drivers put them on a CD-RW and transfer them over with the new comp in safe mode. |

if there is question marks that means they are not installed properly- just go to the site and reinstall ATI's drivers.
you need to reinstall all the drivers with the ?'s |
