Wow. This is getting old.

I love good arguments. I love good debates. Don't forget, I've read this forum for 7 months. Every morning. I love it.

There's a difference between a "good" argument and a "bad" argument. A bad argument goes on and on and on. Nellie's response to Mr Squirrel (how many posts ago) made it clear that she was on a different page and that she chose to be there.

Why am I typing this? You don't listen.

Again, you're telling people to stop a "bad" argument to which you have contributed absolutely nothing.

I have to wonder why you even chose to post in this thread, as opposed to all the others...

Please remind me again why I should listen to what you have to say?

You should not. Please put me in ignore. I was not involved in the argument. You made good points. Anun made good points. Everyone did. I just think when it becomes obvious that someone chooses to believe something that doesn't make sense (i.e. Christianity is not a religion) and when you've made a legitimate and compelling argument for what is correct and it is obvious to everyone that YOU are correct...its time to stop.

You both did this in Chillout. Now you've brought it here. It gets old.

You know what?

You want to do this? Fine. I don't NEED to read Political Forum every morning. Its yours. I enjoyed it before you invaded. I'm out. Others will enjoy it for sure. Have fun!

Echo, this is not a challenge of who should stay and who should go. Nor is it a challenge of who was here longer. On that note, I began posting and reading only a few days after joining up on TA, but that is irrelevant. So is the fact that I minor in Political Sciences.

This is a debate forum. People debate in different ways. Some choose to continue on until they feel their point is proven. Some say one thing and let it rest at that. Each and every person is different. There is no need to criticise their style.

Sara, your best post was your first.

However, you made your point in the next post. And the next. And the next. And the next...

Watching this was like watching 30 year old professors arguing with a 6 year old child.

Initially, it's entertaining. After a while it is not. But, Sara this is your style. This is Aaron's style. You don't stop. He doesn't stop. When it makes no sense to continue. You don't stop.

If you're bringing this crap into the Political Forum. Fine. The guys who post here didn't even know I read their threads every day. They won't know when I don't.

edit: corrected spelling of forum.

What the hell went wrong with this thread? :conf:

Look, the solution is quite clear ...

For all you theists, wwjd?

For all of us non-theists (or whatever combination thereof), wwbcd?

Take your personal vendettas elsewhere, please.

mmmmmmmmmmmmm meta-debates
funny for a while.

@Echo, why would you stop a "hobby" just because of a little fight or a single thread you dislike :conf: People and their principles :p

Religion is man made, It isn't of God.
You don't want to understand, until you finally decide to atleast even consider what I say..You will NEVER understand.
What I've said is very accurate, and the truth.

You're avoiding to answer the question, so I'll ask again. What is your definition of a religion?

Well, actually, I don't dislike any of the people or their principles. And this thread was interesting. I love reading the threads in this forum.

I think this is where I get stuck:

If you say something once and you say it well, if you're clear and you support your argument, if you make your point(s), and if it's obvious that you are correct what do you do if someone chooses to disagree?

Say it again. Maybe change the wording. Throw in more support. Again your presentation is flawless. Again you make your point(s). Again it's obvious that you are correct. Someone STILL chooses to disagree.

You try again. And again.

In this instance, several people, not just one or two, made the same point. And they too were clear. Someone STILL chose to disagree.

Nellie does not WANT to define Christianity as a religion. She has no intention of regarding her Christianity as a religion. She is a Christian but she is NOT religious. Whatever. If people chose to "listen" to her arguments and assertions, they would have realized 50 zillion posts ago that she chooses to think the way she thinks and 50 dictionaries and 50 geniuses are not going to change her way of thinking. So further debate was pointless.

He said it so much better than I!

Maybe I lack confidence in my ability to communicate clearly in English. So I keep trying to say whatever I want to say so it is understandable. My apologies...

Go back to my posts and note that I provided those same definitions to my argument. The reason why the argument continued was simply because I was not satisfied with Nellie's interpretation of my posts.

I reread your posts. You communicate well, Sara! You reread your posts! How could someone misinterpret what you are saying? You are very clear. Maybe I'm missing something. You didn't fail to make your points! That's my point. If someone refuses to "get it" and you've presented it as well as it can be presented...why keep going? Or if you decide to keep going...and you just keep making the same points over and over and the other person refuses to agree, refuses to interpret things the way they should be interpreted...after a while doesn't it get old?!

So. I'll choose to stop reading PF for now because I obviously lack the maturity and self discipline to keep my fingers off the keyboard in situations such as this. :)

Cheers

Don't you kinda see you're practicing exactly what you are preachin'? I think your point was made quite clear a few posts ago, and I agree wholeheartedly. I think we all agree Nellie has difficulties accepting facts. Great, let's all move on together.

No, I think I'm NOT practicing what I'm preaching and I should be. :)

I know what you mean and yes, you're absolutely right. I just felt like initially I offended others and I wanted to try to say it without being offensive. Because it was not my intent to be offensive. lol And this is probably an example of why things go on and on and on :D

sorry :clown:
