Dear oh dear, America vs England. I think the battle all comes down to who runs the respective countries:
Bush vs Blair
Nuff said.
:p :D |
One is an idiot, and the other is too much of a wuss to stand up to the former's idiocy.
Boot em both! |

I think we already had this war once- I forget who came out on top with that one.
Im pretty sure post late 1700's the result would be somewhat the same- well- maybe not somewhat- There would be some serious ass kicking. lol |

i'm kinda late to join...
but i think it's funny how americans say "dude, check out that hot / fine bitch / chick" and englishmen are more prone to say "mate, won't you look at that gorgeous / fit bird?"
:haha: |

Unfortunately- California has a problem with helping poor white boys try to get an education though. I had to wait till I could pay for it myself. The University of california is turning away "people" who has a much higher GPA "mostly white people" in order to admit more ethnic people and have a more diverse campus. THIS IS SO WRONG.
Sorry- I would be pissed if I had a 4.0 and was denied from UCLA or something to someone with a 3.5 and all the same activities only because they were Asian. (Which is usually the case in SoCal)
I dont think there will ever be a happy medium. Someones always going to bitch about something. |
uh, asians get more of a disadvantage than white people as they on average have higher grades |

I can't argue with your unity point...nor fan excitement. Honestly, the fans when they come together is what usually makes a sport more exciting. Any game is boring to watch if there isn't a crowd involved, imo. A great hockey game with 0 people in the stands would be lame, just as a soccer...erm football game would be...Fan interaction with the ooo's and ahh's make the whole "excitement" factor. And I also think it's the "best sport in the world"...it's just not the best sport for me :)
As for unity over the mighty dollar in America....I think the last time we saw that was in 1980 when an Amateur U.S. hockey team stunned the world and won gold at the olympics. It was our 'Miracle on Ice', it brought our country together during a rather tough time, and was due cause for celebration. It was voted the greatest moment in U.S. sports for the 20th century...and it wasn't even a true U.S. sport at a Global Event. Go Figure, we may never see anything like that again. :D :D :D
I watched doubles badmitten on TV the other day....now that was exciting...ROFL.
Still about the money.
A word i don't like is "hella-" followed by any word. Lame. |
those are west coasters, they are completely their own country there
pretty much the trendiest place on earth, unless you live in japan |

Well, i didn't mind hurt anyone with my post, i just wanted tell my opinion.
If i did hurt somebody's feeling, i am really sorry,i just believe in this country what we call, "the country of the freedom " we should have the right to express our feelings without gettin bashed.
And im sorry if my English isn't quiet professional, i only learned English for 4 years .
Oh by the way , in my language we have more words what i can not stand , then in the American English.
Well i am just kinda annoyed, when i try to use the British English in this country, i get bitched at by many people saying," you need to speak in the American way, becouse you live in America and not Englsnd"
:( i dont know , i just love how the brits speak, and i just wanna talk like them :)
And for me : fag means Cigarette \. :stongue: |

Verbal mannerisms that annoy me (not all American):
Herbs pronounced as "urbs" - the "h" is not silent.
"o" as in 'shopping' or 'college' gets pronounced the same as "a" as in father... they're different sounds FFS! When you pronounce an "o" make your mouth round like an o.
Some people pronounce squirrel like squirl... it's got TWO syllables dammit!
When people pronounce white as "hhhhhwite". The bloody "h" is silent, and even if it wasn't it would be "whhhite" not "hhhhwite".
When people use "literally" to add emphasis, even though they are still clearly speaking figuratively.
there's more, but i can't be bothered... |

one thing i would like to point out is that the British (and more commonly the English) do seem to kinda 'own' certain sports (that by no means we're ne good at them) like cricket or Rugby, and the world cups in those sports we let other countries actually play.
However
In America you have your world series and you let how many other countries attend? |
One of the stupidest things i've ever read on ta. Firstly, you by no means 'own criket', you're at it. Australia wipe you off the field every time, and the world cup is rarely held in england. The governing body controls where the wc is held/who plays etc. That body is comprised of representatives from all the test/od playing nations, and I believe is currently led by an Australian.
As for rugby, which country is the only team to win two wcs (AUstralia ;)). Admittedly you did say that you aren't good at thugby, so i;ll move on to the 'where is the wc being held right now? Oh yes, Australia of course.
Still confused as to how you 'own' either sport or dictate who plays in the wcs :conf: |
