The problem with Guv's sound is that you gotta stand in the right spots. The stage sucks, and so does the spot atop the stairs that lead from the dancefloor to the patio. Just behind the front podium is a really good spot.
I dunno if I wanna hit up Boa Redux tho...doesn't sound too tempting...even with Sander... |

I like it this way. If I wanted to just chill and talk I'd go to the spots where the music wasn't as loud. Maybe this setup was intentional. |

#1, the only real reason this place is going no alcohol is probably the licensing issues, and ensuing cop harrassment the process would entail for a place like this. for recent examples in TO, Spincat, Exit, etc
#2 A small fortune in cover to see a DJ that another venue will have in TO within the year isn't worth it. I guess in Montreal you don't have as much of a choice as us? (I have no idea, but why else pay so much just to get into a normal party?)
High cover, elitist attitude is not the way to survive in such a cutthroat environment.. especially with no other source of income into the club outside of cover and bottled water.. just doesn't seem like decent business sense (unless of course they get their fair share of the crack being dealt*wink*) |
