Maybe in the future also the rockstars can stand on stage with a f*cking comp making their music! so in the future everyone can become a rockstar or DJ! wohoo!
:whip: |
thats not even close, its way too complicated to program a computer to recreate something such as a good guitar solo using just pre-programmed sounds, drums or bass maybe...
however a computer CAN be programmed to perfectly recreate any mixing that any dj can do...
edit: btw what happened to that thread with that guy in your sig LOL |

the biggest problem with mp3 mixing IMO is that it leads almost directly to piracy. when was the last time you heard an 'mp3 dj' who buyed all of his tunes? that's why software has such a bad reputation in the dj'ing scene. but that'll change. look at what happened with production, who would've thought 8 years ago that people would make quality professional tunes without a single hardware instrument? |
Where the hell did you get this information from? There are plenty of sources of legal mp3s, such as vinyl, cd, and online stores such as iTMS and Hooj.com. Do you have any evidence to back up what you are saying, or is it purely an anecdote? |

wanted to add..
i don't have anything against using your laptop to mix live, but i do against people playing mp3s, legal or illigal.
when i go to a club i don't wanna hear that ty quality file being played over a really nice pumping club system. |

| the other day when i went clubbing, i was standing in back of the enterance line someone, i guess he's dj, and he was talking about final scratch. He said that he cue'd his whole set on it and just played it off final scratch. I think that is quite gay. I think the way paul uses his laptop is fine. He doesnt mix the tracks before he even gets into the club. He still uses the audience, and responds to them, and with them. I saw him throw on a few vinyls and cds. It did not really matter to me that paul used final scratch. If you are asking why clubs dont just throw on a tiesto set, and save $20000, thats just gay because a lot of energy, at least for me comes from watching amazing dj's like paul mix, jump around and work the deks, and crowd. I would never want to see a dj pre mix a set. I can do a good enough job on winamp and save $120 at home. |

| this thread is pointless....... so those of you that think program mixing is garbage, what do u think about computer production ??????? Is that cheating too ???? Should producers now be using hardware instead of software ????? Come on I wanna know . . . . I mean, I DJ on turntables, but see no prob w/ program mixing. Its all in who knows what going on w/ the program and knows how to work it to perfection. Then people wanna argue " oh, i pay to see DJs spin on a turntable...".. whoopdy f#cking doo ! If they were on a computer it wouldnt matter. If it did matter then your a spotter, straight up!! You guys must get off major on seeing someone else spin a record & probably wouldnt get off as hard if they were on a cpu. Theres no end to the thread, so give respect where it due be it on cpu's or turns! |

i personally wouldn't have a problem with someone using software to mix if the following was done:
1. they had bought the music and in order to protect that great vinyl they burnt it to computer or something
2. they don't use bpm counters or auto line-up the beats
3. the sound quality wasn't any different
but personally, i prefer the touch of vinyl to a computer...
1. the interaction with the records make djing more enjoyable
2. a person's record collection says a lot about them ;)
3. its just cooler ok :D |

| Well, it's too bad djing became a spectator sport instead of what it was intended to do, MAKE YOU DANCE!!! Not stand around and watch and critique someones technique. You should respect them all for getting where they are (unless they don't respect you, no name dropping). I thought clubbing was all about dancing all night and forgetting about everything but the choons that your fav. dj is spinnin. I don't totally agree with pc to pc mixes but sometimes I have to go from tt to pc, and i don't see anyone thats dancing stop and walk off. All the big name DJ's almost have monopolies on new music, thats why I pay $30 to see them, so I can dance to new stuff. No more to say, just keep on dancing 'till the sun comes up. |

Well, I just got a set of turntables. Also I'm a noob, my friend one time burned me some mixing proggies and i threw the cd in the trash. I never even considered using one of those apps. I just can't wait till my TT's come, man i'm so excited. :gsmile:
there's one thing i hate though. why does everything in the world have to get easier??? ie computers, making music on pc, mixing on PC, just things in general. i wish stuff got harder instead of easier. stupid people piss me off, making things easier is just gonna make people dumber cause they are not going to have to make an effort to learn. :whip: |

or they will be able to not spend their time worry about simple tasks and innovate more with the music |

i really think that the more thorough the learning process the further you will get in anything. but hey i guess this all is just a matter of opinion. who knows..... |
