| And, I have to add that if you're going to get that pissy over what I think, you're going to have an ulcer by the time you grow chest hair. |

If anyone cares to say that these arguments about the V6's versus the V700's don't matter or are wrong, I would love to hear what they say...
[BEGIN RANT]
...That the ones I suggested aren't better for hearing the bass....why a headphone that lets you hear every part of the sound, very clearly, rather than exaggerating one part and sacraficing all of the others would be WORSE....and I'm wondering how you can call the bass clear when it is slow and muddy and full of reverberations and exaggerated....how, I think the reason you THINK the bass is clear is because they block a lot of outside sound, and the bass is LOUD, where it would be better to use something that blocks a lot of outside sound and lets you hear the recording exactly as it sounds like....and that my arguments about the flimsiness of the V700's plastic are wrong.....and my arguments that all of the frequencies that give bass character are almost impossible ot hear in the V700's, causing all of the bass in trance mixed with them to sound the same, beyond minor effects with the bass....how they hold you back from adding and hearing the harmonics in bass that can let you KNOW, and integrate into your mix, bass that doesn't SOUND synthesized....and how you counteract the slowness and resonances of the bass in the V700's, which make accurate beatmatching harder because the bass you hear stops after the signal stops....oh, and why you should pay more than $30 for the V700's...and tell me why all recording studios use the V6's rather than the V700's...
So, yea, if you say you disagree, at LEAST refute my arguments! And the ones of people who have switched from the V700's to the V6's for mixing....(in that last link I posted...)
Oh, by the way, what about the arguments that the "bass" you are hearing on the V700's isn't bass, but lower midrange, because the V700's don't get anything below lower midrange?
Okay. Lets say that, somehow, you can beat match well with this slow bass. Maybe your brain learns to compensate or something... And, you have no intention of using headphones for doing anything OTHER than beat matching--you have no intention of knowing how your recording actually sounds, for some reason. If this is so, than why would you spend so much on the V700's? Why not get, say, some Technics headphones at the same price, which are at least durable at this ungodly high dj-price? Or, why not get something (hmmmm. I wonder what? Sony MDR-V6, maybe?) that has all of the capabilities you need (and accurate sound with deep, impacting, accurate, tight, easy to hear, easy to feel, very present, and clear bass, to boot!) and durability, and, if you ever decide to try your hand at creating electronica in a home recording studio situation, you can still have something useful? Why buy something that's more expensive that can be used in fewer scenarios, with a placebo "helping" feature that you don't actually need?

You are right, I am wrong.
You are good, I am bad.
You are good looking and I am unattractive. |

DJAdamSmith,
I sent a Private Message to you apologizing and explaining what the hell I was thinking when I posted that first message where I yelled at you. Will you honestly and without sarcasm ACCEPT that apology, without mocking me? I'd appreciate it.
Also, would it be TOO MUCH for me to ask that you clarify your position on the subject? You obviously are very opinionated, and I would like your comments on my arguments, if you want to debate.
*grins*
You think I'm good looking, eh? OOOOOOooooo... someone thinks I'm SEXY!! WOOHOO!! :toothless |

ok, fair enough. For listening and composing music I use a set of Sony MDR-V600's. For spinning I use MDV-R700DJ's..
I tried composing music using the 700's, the song sounded great when I was making it, but boy did it sound different when I played it outloud for someone else. However, I firmly believe they are the BEST headphones I've ever had the pleasure of using while spinning. They give my ears exactly what they need to make a clean mix.
Since this was the DJ zone and not the producer/amature dj forum, I thought this was the point of the thread. |

Okay, DJAdamSmith,
Let's put it this way.... you claimed that the V700's were the best headphones for creating trance, hands down. It's the hands down part that got me; maybe you should try the MDR-V6's.
Let's put it this way. For any mixing, composing, spinning, or anything involving creating or altering music, I would use the MDR-V6, because they show you exactly how the mix actually sounds, and they have DJ features you need, and anything that sounds good on those will sound good on anything--MDR-V700's and MDR-V600's included, but if you mix to the FULL CAPABILITY of the V6's, it will still sound good on a revealing, $125,000 stereo speaker system...which a lot of trance doesn't. What I am asking is, will you consider TRYING something that's cheaper and more versatile? You can sell your V600's and your V700's, and buy the V6's, and end up making money from the transaction, too!
Also, I don't think this thread is in the OTHER forum because that one seems to be mostly used for trading songs and asking for advice on songs and such...not on tools. |

Man, it's not a competition. Okay, okay.. you know more about headphones than I do. Fine.
But this guy was just asking what people thought were the best. Sorry if my opinion conflicts with yours.
I can see that this was a mistake. |

Well, DJAdamSmith, I didn't want to start a competition... I just wanted to start a debate, because I thought that was the idea behind your post. I read it as bait, I guess.
*grins lopsidedly*
Oh, and the worst headphones? Those would be those crappy-ass plastic headphones you get on airplanes... you know, the ones with no metal in the thing at all? that hurt your ear, and that it only plays in one channel? Heheh. Those 5ux0r...
:D :D :D |

You're taking everything way too seriously. I guess I should have guessed by your tagline on your signature.
It should read "Does not play well with others!" instead. |

This thread is quite amusing.
Gluegun....sorry, but you need to chill. Yes, headphones are important, but everyone has their own preferences...and it's not the end of the world if everyone doesn't share your view on the subject. It just sounds like you want DJAdamSmith to back up his choice just so you can pick apart his opinions and prove that you are right...grow up.
I need to buy a new pair of head phones being that I just started spinning myself...and I'm sure I'll have my own OPINION as to what I feel are the best headphones to use. We have all read and understand you opinion and yes, I'll definitely check out the set you recommend. In the end, however, I'll be the judge of what pair I buy.
Everyone has their own opinion...deal with it. You might be trying to help by sharing your experience and knowledge (and I for one appreciate that), but you're coming off as a total ass. |

Alright... I'll admit to being a little....overenthusiastic. And overzealous. And how I don't think I *quite* communicated sarcasm when I MEANT to.
How about I go edit the posts that I think stand out to me as being most annoying, and we try to forgive each other?
[Edit]
There. I changed some of the more insulting posts to hopefully be less insulting. Were those the ones you were talking about, and is it a little better now? |
