Do you want headphones that block out sound from the outside, in other words, do you mind hearing people talking and outside noises when you listen to headphones, or do you need something that blocks out outside noise. If you do not mind headphones that do not block outside noise, you have more options for getting good headphones in your budget.
Do you need big headphones, because many smaller headphones sound better... ESPECIALLY in your price range!
It means to clip over your ears, like the Sony w.ears. On those, there is no headband, but the headphones actually clip over your ears, similar to the ends of a pair of glasses. If you do not mind this design of headphone, you have more options for getting good sound.
Leaking sound means that other people can hear what you are hearing--the headphones "leak" sound through the back. If you do not mind headphones that do this, you have more options in your price range.
ALSO! Do you mind earphones that go into the ear or not?
Oh, I forgot to ask, do you want exaggerated bass?
Oh, and DJ darchinova, if you want my advice, could you answer the questions I posed to fastdjmp3 and the ones I posed to you as well? |

No, they don't! they don't block out sound, and they leak sound, and they sound REALLY bad!
Okay, in your budget, you will have to either sacrafice "I want them big" to have them block out sound and not leak sound...OR, you can sacrafice "i want them to block out sound" to have them big and not leak sound, OR, you can go over budget, and get big headphones that block out sound and don't leak sound. It is a given that my options are quality headphones; you could find something that sound REALLY bad and has the features you want, but I won't help you find a set of headphones that sounds BAD. Choose... |

ok let me explain to you why i ordered them
my brother has the mdrcd180 , i love those headphones , i always use them without the permission of my brother . When i searched online for headphones , i found the mdrcd280 and i told myself : they are probably better than my bro's headphones , so that's why i ordered them |

| FASTDJMP3, I had briefly heard the Sony MDR-CD280's, and all I can say is that in the under-$60CAN price range, in most cases, BIGGER IS NOT BETTER! The CD280's cost $30US (or $58CND), but performs NO BETTER than the stock headphones that come bundled with personal stereos. Well , the 30mm drivers that the CD280's use are EXACTLY the same diameter as the drivers in the average set of muff-type bundled personal-stereo headphones - NO SURPRISE THERE!! |

That's nice, I don't care why you ordered them; return them; they suck....it doesn't make them good headphones! 99.5% of Sony Headphones suck.....the only good headphones in the CD series are the MDR-CD1700, and the 3000, and the 1700 is discontinued, and difficult to drive, and the MDR-CD3000 is $400 USD. Now, will you PLEASE answer my questions? The ones I've posted in the last three replies to you? Oh, and, by the way, as far as quality headphones go, it is VERY easy to think crappy headphones sound good, until you hear good sounding headphones (with the bass boost and all equalization off, of course, and driven through enough power to make them happy [oh, by the way, I won't reccomend anything that your mp3 player can't drive well, but i CAN'T reccommend ANYTHING until you answer my questions!])...
Oh, by the way, bigger is NOT better in headphones! WHY do you want big headphones? Also, for your budget, if you want decent sound, YOU WILL HAVE TO LOOSEN YOUR CRITERIA!! |

| If anything, the MDR-CD180 is one of the very worst headphones--open or closed--that you can buy at any price range! Muddy bass, sucky mids, honky screechy highs... blech. |

If all you want is big, closed, cheap headphones that don't sound HORRIBLE, you can heed Gluegun's recommendation for the Koss UR-20--if you can find them for anywhere near that $58CND price that those Sony MDR-CD280's cost. |

Heheheh. All of the currently available cheap headphones from Sony suck, too! In fact, the best Sony headphones either cost way too much in Canada or have been long discontinued and no longer available! And Sony has really gone downhill as a company in the last 15 years--ever since the slogan "Sony Quality" was introduced, Sony (like most other electronics manufacturers) spent way too much money on making their products look good, but almost totally neglected the sound quality on those f**king things. And as the value of the Japanese yen got higher against other world currencies during the early 1990's, that's when the REAL downfall of Sony began--and that company has never fully recovered (quality-wise) from that downfall. In 1993--the year in which the value of the Japanese yen was at its highest level against both the U.S. and Canadian dollars--Sony introduced the MDR-V600 as the successor to the famous MDR-V6. Big mistake! The V600 sounds like a MUCH cheaper model headphone than the V6 ever was. More recently, the value of the U.S. and Canadian dollars rose significantly against the Japanese yen, but that came at a time when Japan itself had severe economic troubles of its own, so the V600 remained in Sony's lineup, as expensive and sucky as ever. |
