Nah, the entire story has already been given away by the books.

You're lucky. The real ending lasts about 3 chapters in the book. Peter Jackson took alot out of the ending to make it suitable for theaters. Alot of whiney ass people would be bitching if they had to sit through the journey home for the hobbits. Or the king's celebration.

Good flick, I love how they brought the battle at Pelennor to life. Greatest action sequence of the year.

Great flick. Can't wait for the extended version.

The Ring must be destroyed, Mr. Anderson

Seeing it on Saturday...can't in wait

It was absolutely awesome. Easily the best of the three, and perhaps the best film of the year. Incredible fight scenes. Made the matrix look poor :)

I'm still holding out hope that the ending with Saruman in the shire will still be in the extended edition, it just annoys me when there are significant departures from the book.

I read the book and i'm glad they cut the whole shire thing, that just dragged and dragged, i mean Sauron was dead, i know the whole point is that life doesn't just end with the end but i could have guessed it would all end happily

I hear you man, but in the same context, it is the rest of the story that I want to see that I read. For me, Lord of the Rings was just eye candy for my imagination. I read the books through and through, and I loved every page of it.

Like I said, they did an excellent job in the Battle of Pelennor. Maybe they could of stretched it out a bit more, that was such an epic battle in the book.

All in all a great movie. A must see for the Holidays.

The only thing that really pissed me off about the movies (So far, haven't see the third yet, it isn't out until boxing day here) was the Ents. They shouldn't have been tricked into going to war, there was no need to change it around like that.
Other than that, they've been pretty good.

I thought the movie ventured into pure corniness way too often. All the stupid flashbacks to Arwn/Galadriel/remininscing about the shire to annoying music made me want to hurl.
Fortunately the rest of the movie was excellent, the way they handled the Halls of the Dead was fantastic, as were the graphics for Minas Tirith and Minas Morgul. Hell, even that battering ram looked awesome.
