| Now comes the real story. Do you think that the Hobbit will be shot and released in the near future? I know it would be a prequil type deal, but with the success of the movies, it would tie itself in so well and I can see it being done. Anyone else see this happening? or and I too far off in dreaming? |

I'm still holding out hope that the ending with Saruman in the shire will still be in the extended edition, it just annoys me when there are significant departures from the book. |
i was sorta mad that this wasnt in the movie. i loved how the book ends, i think its perfect, and yeah the movie ending was a bit long and really epic but i think they had to wrap it all up it up like that and show how everything was good at the end. the ring was ultimate evil, so to contrast that, everything else had to be perfect in the end. i dunno. i hope its in the extended too, i'd love to see that, but i really dont see how they can possibly add that in with the current ending.

though i heard 3 is last movie of LOTR saga, what is this extended version? or am i wrong? |
the return of the king was the final book, and hence the final movie of the lord of the rings saga. now, there are rumors that they will be making the hobbit, which was actually written before the lord of the rings trilogy and comes first in the story. i really hope they make the hobbit into a prequil, would be awesome to see.
the extended is the directors cut which gets released on dvd next november. well, i imagine november because thats when the extended editon's came out for the fellowship and the two towers these past two years. both extended editions have about 40 minutes extra that wasnt included in the theatre version. they are pretty badass. |

All I can say is mothering WOW.
Parts that stuck out in my mind the most-
Merry singing right before the final battle. That sent chills up my spine. The music in this was exceptional. I might even go by the soundtrack. The music in the first 2 really didnt stand out to me but for some reason this one did.
Special Effects were amazing.
The ending sorta killed me. It was like having sex and just wanting to go to sleep but some chic wont stop talking your ear off. |

No there's rumors that Peter Jackson wanted the rights to film The Hobbit. Which would just be bad ass. They don't need any of the characters in Lord of the Rings, maybe Gandalf and of course Bilbo.
But yeah, Peter Jackson stated that since he made the Lord of the Rings, that he should get a shot at making it's prequel.
I'm just a Tolkien purest, so I really didn't like how he changed a couple of scenes in this movie. But I'm not going to argue it, since this was such an amazing collaboration of talent.
I think alot of people got bored of the ending because they wanted the typical movie ending. Where, once the final battle scene is over, everyone makes up and the credits roll. What people forget is that this was the ending to all THREE movies/books, so alot of closure had to be done. People got lucky because Peter Jackson understood the average movie go-er, so he cut it as short as he could without losing content.
If you didn't notice in the end, alot of scene feel like they are going to end the movie, but then another scene comes. Well, that's because Tolkien wrote about 3 chapters worth of ending in the books.
Anyways, great flick. Would not change a thing. |

I'm also a purist, but aside from how Arwen came instead of (the name excapes me now) to take frodo to elrond, and the Ent changes (How they were tricked into going into war rather than doing it themselves), I have to admit that Jackson did a pretty damn good job. He needed to think if the average movie goer, otherwise it wouldn't have been the massive sucess it was.
Can't wait for the extended edition (And to see the actual film :p, stupid thing doesn't come out here until boxing day).
Oh yes, I'd really like to see the Silmarillion made into a movie, but I think that it's just a tad too muddled up/disjoined to be made into a coherant plot. :( |

OMG, The Silmarillion on the big screen.:eyes: That would be incredible. I mean to see the creation of the voices and how they sing to create Middle Earth, then to have the first wars in Middle Earth.
True it would be very hard to put into film, since there really is not ending. But man, that would be a treat for Tolkien fans around the world.
I'd be happy if Jackson got to do The Hobbit. |

I know, I would go insane. :p
Apparently there are significant problems with legalities/rights, but apparently Jackson has a good chance of making it.
He'll have to hurry though, as Gandalf is a pretty important character, and Ian (Second name eludes me) is getting on a bit, or so it seems. |

LOL.
This movie has to win the academy award next year. This movie is just just incredible..BUT
Why the hell are there no scenes of Saruman??
And the ending.. well I could count 5 possible endings in the movie.
LoL.. where I come from.. theres a LOTR DIRECTORS CUT MOVIE MARATHON.Holy lasts about 10+ hours...I cant imagine sitting thru the whole 3 movies with all those cut footage for 10 frigging hours!!!!
5/5 for me.!!!!!MUST WATCH!!!!!!!!
LOL.. the best part has to be when that little princess(cant remember her name) chopped the witch kings dragons head silly. And SHE defeated THE WITCH KING quite easily...
Thus.. I am making this statement.. "WITCH KING= OWN3D" |
