IMO this is the best trilogy ever made...BLOWS THE OUT OF MATRIX & STAR WARS....& the acting is better than both movies mention....ROTK was soo emotional at the end...

To all the people going insane over it, had you actually read the books before going to see it, and if not, will you now go and get them?

/me is interested. :p

Apparently ROTK made $8 million just in midnight sales (December 17th, 2003 12:00am). It's expected to gross well over $1 billion world-wide. I dunno about you, but I smell record breaker here! :eyespop:

Same here. If Jackson gets the rights to the Hobbit, who knows how well that will do, riding on the LOTR popularity/sucess.

I've heard that there are plans to make the Hobbit. Seeing how the industry is, I don't see how they couldn't do it. New Line took a $300 million gamble when they gave Jackson the rights to LotR and look at what he's turned it into. A multi-billion dollar empire that is soon to rival such series like Star Wars.

I'm quite positive that the Hobbit will be done. But, they will probably give the series a rest for 3-5 years and then release it. In the meantime they can still rake in cash by releasing games, action figures and re-edits of all the movies. What I'm hoping for is a Director's Cut Boxed Set. I've got the previous 2 movies on DVD but they're not the extended editions. I'm quite pissed what they did with "The Two Towers" extended edition though. They released it a few months after the original cut for only like $4 more! :whip:

If I would have known it was going to be so cheap I would have waited for it. When the extended edition of "Fellowship of the Ring" came out it was like $40 and up.

yeah a lot of people think there is homo eroticism in there. I took it as just a close culture that didnt have a fear of being called gay if they hugged their friend.

anyways. I agree with the 11/10. Now I know what star wars felt like (originals) except better. The CG integration with shelob was incredible...movies from here out have one helluva standard to meet.

eat it SW episode 1-3
eat it matrix
eat your heart out Braveheart. Their horse talk scenes ruled yours (even though yours was good)

I take it you have a problem with homophobia if you feel repulsed by homosexuality.

I'm going to see this tomorrow, but I just finished watching the EE of Two Towers with all the bonus features. The one part that I was really interested in was The Making of Gollum. After first seeing Two Towers, Gollum was the one character that really stuck out in my mind and after seeing how everyone collaborated on it is just mind-blowing.

George Lucas' attempt at creating a CG "character" with Jar Jar Binks is down right laughable after Gollum.

And I also agree that this trilogy is better than Star Wars or Matrix. Blows'em both right out of the water (especially Star Wars)

Here's an interesting article on the legal stuff of the Tolkien's works, relating to the chances of Hobbit making it to the big screen.

It's too bad Peter Jackson decided to cut out the Scourging of the shire, since that part was important in showing how the 4 hobbits had changed over the course of their journey.
I think he did extremely well with the last bit though, it was important to show that, although the ring was destroyed, and for most people everything went back to normal, Frodo and Bilbo could never go back. Even after its destruction the ring still had some hold on them.
