You're a friggin' idiot dave and you would even scare the innocent from experiencing our basic values of don't blow up bombs by the road like they do everyday in Iraq! I would say that Magnet School or equivalent is fundamental for a foreign exchange student and it beats the hell out of the cowardice bombing! If you don't concur then OFF!!!!!

I think it would be great for him to come here, but not for high school. I guess stating an opinion makes one an idiot now?:conf:

On another note, I highly doubt Sweden is fertile terrorist recruiting ground.

Cheers Pops.

That's the thing that sucks about Canada. You're a little more free because of the laws, but free to do what? Stay indoors all the time for a 6 month winter. I've been in the summer, and it's great though. Ok, it's cold like that in the Northern US too. :toocool:

Exactly. unless you are going to live in the southern states in the US the weather is going to be pretty simular. The majority of the population of canada live REALLY close to the US border. If you want to check out agencys, i will help. I know my best friend did an exchange here through EF. I will send you some links perhaps.

the major problem in the US is the cost, especially University, but i dunno, it might be a really good experience. In England it will cost you £1125 per year for fees plus costs for accommodation, in Scotlandf they don't pay fees and if we get the Lib Dems into power we won't pay any at all (even the conservatives would give us a better deal than Labour are) grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

hehe Dave is the farthest one can get from being a friggin' idiot! And really, there aren't a lot of bombs going off in Scandinavia these days. ;) Since I don't concur with your post, can I OFF too? lol :D

Erik, I think there are really cool summer programs at most universities in the US. It might be worth researching especially if living expenses (room, board)and tuition are reduced because of the drop in demand. Also there are less expensive "Junior" colleges in California (maybe other states too?). Most of the classes are comparable to what you would take in your first two years at an American university. And the units do transfer.

You do know that you can't go to most clubs unless you are 21? At least it's 21 where I attend school.

Screw high school, go to a university. There are a number of excellent state schools that you can go to that are far cheaper than private universities. If you do some proper research you can find a good state school that has a huge partying atmoshphere yet excellent curriculums and teachers. Plus you don't have to be stuck in some ty high school in teh middle of nowhere where everybody are a bunch of ingrates.

hs in America is kinda a joke

Andrew, if you think about Canada, don't go anywhere else than the two big cities which are Toronto and Montreal. Because over there there's always something to do even when its "cold" (today raining with 4C).

anyways if you need info you can ask people at the regional forums or PM me.

I've experienced both the US and the european (croatian) high school system, and I can say that the US one is totally inferior. The amount of knowledge gained is really nowhere near what european high school students obtain. Basically, I don't think it would pay off to lose one year of your education for getting to know the language better. If you want to learn the language, go there during the summer, or like occ...Cheney said, wait till university. American universities are usually pretty good, much better than their high schools.
