DId Everyone Go Through This?

| I dont know if any of u remember some of my post from when I was a bit younger to the boards and younger in age and musical development AND MATURITY as well, but I used to be pretty outspoken about my preference of uplifting over prog. Now though it seems as if all I listen to is prog, I mean I can't get enough of it. To be quite honest I dont understand it either, one theory is that uplifting has been on a decline as far as quality productions and the other is musical evolvment, and I remember one person who's name escapes me at the moment said this would happend and I said he was crazy, and now Im wondering did anyone else do the same thing? |

i know exactly what you mean. i dont understand why i wasnt listening to progressive 2 years ago. i dont know why i dont like uplifting trance as much either. Just a change in preference i guess. New uplifting stuff, i can only listen to so much of, then i get bored of it. New prog i can listen over and over and i dont get bored. Old uplifting stuff is great though =). I dont necessarily think that the production level has gone down, because i know if some of these uplifting tracks came out a few years ago, i would have loved them, but for some reason i dont like the new ones as much. It puzzles me, but oh well, i like the music i listen to, so i dont mind. I think also, uplifting sounds more friendly to most people when they start listening. Then you hear one progressive song and you go and look for more. And then it takes over. hehe =). Good to hear you like prog though, it is amazing stuff =) |

| nope. after about a year listening to trance, i can say i still enjoy both prog and uplifting just as much. hard trance/hardstyle/hardhouse i cannot stand for the life of me but i am learning to appreciate prog house more. it all depends on the person and their tastes |

i was listening since about 98 to mainly uplifting trance. So after hmm, 3-4 years, prog started to really appeal to me. had the help of one of our TAs introducing me to more progressive stuff =) |

This transformation took me about 2 1/2 years so I say give it some time.I mean its a slow process but I dunno, its like u just have to find the type of prog for u. |

Heh, no serious I have been listening to trance for 6 years, and like epic more than ever. Bring on Armin, Nu Nrg etc.
Prog still bores the hell out of me. And trust me I've given it more than enough chances, I hear it every weekend, I've seen Holden, Digweed a few times, and Deep Dish a few times and they all bored me. To this I conclude that I will never 'mature' :rolleyes: :D |

| This happend with me, when I first started, I loved uplifting vocal trance. I still love it, but I am starting to drift away from it. |

Dont get me wrong Im not saying if you dont do this that youre not mature or u dont know music or nething like that, Im jus saying from my own experience it feels like Ive matured and digested alll the diff types of trance, Im no l33t. |

ugh... I would kill to see Deep Dish live...
Anyway I know exactly what you mean. A year ago or so there was a thread that basically said something like if you like epic or uplifting now, you will mature and like prog. And I said "He doesn't know what he's talking about." Sure enough, I <3 Prog now. Altho, the occasional uplifting or epic typa tune will catch my attention :) |
