It doesn't sound like other trance because it's not trance. It sounds like ing garbage because that's what it is. There was absolutely no thought put into the production. It's just a bass loop and every couple of minutes there is a hint of a "melody" (maybe lack of monotonocity is a better word). This is what gives EDM a bad name. People hear this track and they say "this is the you listen to? it's just the same crappy drum over and over again". Unfortunately they would be right about Traffic.
I should just add that anybody who disagrees with me about this track doesn't have an opinion worth listening to. There are no two ways to think about this track. |

i'm tired of defending this track but one last time...
some tracks lack a certain...lets call it sophistication. But that doesn't mean its a bad track. Traffic is simple, dirty, and driving. Its meant to bang in a club on a big sound system.
Its meant to be a stormer, something to lift the energy of a set and get people dancing.
It seems like a lot of people who slam these type of tracks cannot appreciate them for what they are. I can understand if you find it hard to respect the quality of production (but you would still be missing the point). But don't dismiss a track b/c the mp3 is not a good back drop for surfing the web. |

Traffic gives me hope that trance can evolve out of its current rut. It's no Flight 643, but was one of the most innovative productions of 2003. And nothing short of devastating on the dancefloor. I guarantee that the vast majority of people who hate it haven't heard it live.
For those of you who don't like Traffic, go listen to some fluffy uplifting crap or boring-as-hell prog. Those of us who are bored of that standard want trance to try something new for a change. |
