The Lovely Misconceptions of Trance Music by Teens in NYC told by a Teen in NYC

::Begin Rant::
Now some of you are thinking wtf is this, and some of you are thinking this may be interesting, well lets just get it started with about what trance isn't. Trance is not DJ Sammy, Dj Skribble, Jonathan Peters, Darude (old time I havent heard the new album yet), Chemical Brothers, 666, Crystal Method, Anthony Acid, or anything ele you would hear on KTU (aside from the fact that Crystal Method, and Chemical Brothers are respectable they are still NOT trance). By far I have become rather annoyed with the teenagers of NYC claiming to be TranceAddicts when they feel that "Castles in the Sky" is by far the best track they have ever heard, but we as TAs know that this by far is the cheesiest track next to Dj Sammy's "Heaven" ever made. Another thing I would like to address, KTU is by far the worst radio station I have ever heard on the face of this planet, switching from rap to dance to R&B to just the cheesiest music I ever heard, so when I do hear teenagers say "OMG I HEARD THE CRAZIEST TRANCE SONG ON KTU IN THE WORLD LAST NIGHT, I THINK IT WAS NAMED "Nobody is Supposed to Be Here~Deborah Cox"" I really just want to shoot them in the head and say why make such fools of yourselves. Lets take it to another level now, Exit2, Hunkabunka, Abyss, Webster Hall, Copacabana, Panache, and SOUNDFACTORY are not the best clubs in the world they are just filled with the easiest girls (and yes if you go there you are probably easy) and foremost THEY ARE NOT TRANCE CLUBS THEY PLAY HOUSE, AND CHEESE DANCE. Ahhh yess now most of you are thinking where the is the point here, Well ill be glad to get into it, I have by far been sick of hearing "YOU DONT KNOW WHAT TECHNO/TRANCE IS YOU HAVE NEVER EVEN BEEN TO SOUNDFACTORY AND YOUR NO DJ EITHER....I HEARD YOUR STUFF AND WHO THE IS MATT DAREY AND PAUL VAN DYK (first two names to come to mind)...", I have rested my case with that statement alone, Yes I am not a DJ, but being 17 and have stepped into clubs like Roxy, Arc, Avalon NY and Boston, and Space in Miami, I have seen what all sorts of DJs (Danny Howells, Danny Tenaglia, Sander Kleinenberg, PVD...) and have a pretty good definition to what trance music is. So for all you SF whores, and DJ Skribble fans please stop posting here posing as Tranceaddicts including you 16-21 "guinea" AX and Diesel wearing (no racism intended) beefcake boys who think that the only great DJ in the world is Jonathan Peters, Skribble, Anthony Acid, and Junior Vasques (although they are NY Legends the common misconception is they dont spin trance they spin dance and house), we dont like you and this board is not for you :whip:. And for those of you who have heard this same thing from people from coming onto this board, and a few from other clubs you all understand me when i say N00Bs =).

i only read the first couple of lines about n00bs things that DJ sammy is trance and how they feel that castles in the sky is the best trance track and i say
SCREW THEM !!!! Lock them up in bagdhad and give em a banana, now ! i may be saying this because i'm drunk and that would explain why i didn't read it all but still, OWN THEM NUBS !!!!!!!!!! |

| on a similar note, i dislike hearing people say they dislike trance because OF the stuff that they've heard on radio. i'm like... well yeah i'd hate this garbage too cuz it's cheese! argh. not all trance is created equal. the best way to hear trance is to hear the top top djs spinning in the best clubs in the world and not on the radio or computer or what have u. ah well. just my two cents. slowly some of my friends are coming around to the fact that dj sammy is blech. |

ok honestly i feel you on the whole trance thing.
but bashing house for no reason is stupid.
Danny Howells, Danny Tenaglia and Sander Kleinenberg aint Trance buddy.
And your discriminating against people by the ing clothes they wear?? how ing shallow have guys become, if someone wants to wear Diesel, LET THEM, how is it ruining YOUR fun? If you prefer UFOs and a t-shirt, i dont mind. Personally i dress however i feel, sometimes Nice, and sometimes with UFOs.

You took the words right out of my mouth Stassi.
Rather than hating on the "mis-informed", take the time out to educate these people in NYC about what defines some of these electronic music genres.
The bottom line is that electronic music is not mainstream in NY or the U.S., and things are not going to change unless people become more aware of what quality electronic music is.
