Ok, I understand your frustration with people and their knowledge of EDM compared to you. If some of these people are your friends and people you hang out with, maybe you should EDUCATE them. Alot of people in the world only know about what is put on the radio and choose not to explore any deeper.

I had a similar situation with someone I knew that spun for parties with a bunch of my friends (these are guys that just spin for fun, no skill involved). He said, "Ill be spinning some techno stuff." So I asked him what exactly, he said, "Some Ian van Dahl, etc...". So I smirked alittle and tried to explain to him that was not techno, on other hand, it was straight up dance radio cheese. So instead of understanding, he got all pissy and thought I was trying to show him up. I find it kinda sad that he doesnt spin what he thinks hes spinning and isnt even interested about what he thinks hes spinning.

On another note, you cant go and bash House/Hard House DJ's. Although the site is called "tranceaddict", it is a place for all EDM music. Your personal preference in EDM is your business and no one should tell you what to like and bash your preference in EDM - if you dont like it tough , go tell someone who cares.

Finally, the DJ situation... alot of us, as well as myself, are not fans of JP and it is blatently obvious. Lets leave that alone. Skribble is a hip=hop DJ so theres no point in bringing him up. Junior Vasquez, although doesnt spin my style, is a great DJ. He might be "old", but that doesnt mean he all of a sudden just forgot how to beat match.

P.S.: Can we be alittle more mature about this whole situation? I learned my lesson with the previous JP thread that we had the pleasure of encountering.

Not everyone here shares a favorite style and DJ, but we all have a common love for EDM.

Ok one i have to get a point across, as far as educating these individuals, all i get is you dont know and the only real is at (insert cheese club here) therefore I rant. I'd like to educate people when it comes to EDM (and in the process gain more people with another common ineterest), but it doesnt work you all know as well as I do most NYC teenagers are stubborn, and believe they know everything. I was brought into the scene by my cuzins and Ive learned what I needed to learn from them and on my own, ive learned a great deal from experience hell i went to my first rave a few weeks ago.

Secondly, as far as me bashing house/prog/hard house whatever it may be, that wasnt in my intent, infact i used to be a fan of it but the fact of the matter is there is a difference between good house and "cheese" house (JP spins cheese). Something remixed (insert pop song here) and placed on the radio is not trance, it is dance/house.

Concerning DJs:
Skribble tries to spin house and stuff...as well as Anthony Acid and they dont do well at all.
Junior Vasquez has my respect (as far as other NY DJ's are concerned) he is one of NY's greatest and we know this very well.
JP well lets not get started, i will take your word and leave it as it is.

As far as what puma said, dude get a ing clue KTU shouldnt even be considered a dance station that shouldnt even be on the air, they broadcast from the tiest clubs, hell ive noticed that every so called dance radio station sucks, aside from miami's late nights but other then that get a clue puma I dont bash tenaglia, howells, and what not, I enjoy them. As for you for telling me to shut the up,you are the same ing kind of people I RANTED WITH TO BEGIN WITH, I deal with that all the time people thinking they know if they enjoy the music fine but dont put me down saying i dont know anything.

Lastly, Dennis ur my cuzin and all and I respect that I am not saying i know everything but dont make me look simple minded, as I stated b4 I did this post purely as a publicity stunt because it was 3 in the morning and i was bored out of my head and could not sleep, what i say still stands, but i really dont give a two s personally (i just dont like people trying to make me look simple minded on something Ive been listening to for years).
Janieliza trust me I would take a DJ Sammy fan over a hip hop fan but those DJ sammy fans again insult just as much as those people who wear pants off their asses. Liking castles in the sky is understandable, claiming that it is the best trance song on planet earth because its publicized all over the place and sounds like techno, you dont know anything about trance.

I agree, its hard to educate people who like their "chedder". These people are used to hearing radio beats and thats what they like. Its hard to teach and convert people into something so deep. EDM is definitely not for everyone, but thats what makes the world go round.

It took me 3 years to fully evolve and develop a love, interest, and addiction to EDM. So much so that Ive invested money and want to DJ so badly that it makes me want to jump off the walls. I always used to make CD's for friends or always played music for them, whether it be in front of them or on the phone. So I put 1+1 together (no I didnt get 2) and saw the light that DJing is what I want to do. Seeing clips of the Tiesto DVD and hanging out in the DJ booth at Arc was a life changing experience. Although I wasnt spinning at all, whether it was the DVD or being in the booth, in my mind I put myself in the DJs shoes and got goosebumps upon goosebumps upon goosebumps.

My experience has lead me to do the following when encountering the EDM deficient people... I just let them believe what they want to believe, it just makes it easier on both parties. You dont need to strain yourself trying to explain it, and the other person doesnt have to strain themselves by denying it.

Gemini, I dont think he intentionally went out to start bashing people, I think its more of a rant to get off their chest... although I could be wrong.

Yes, Ozzie does pretend to know everything. But it seems as if you are the one whos bothered by what he said. Did he hit your soft spot? Are you a greaseball Factory groupie? Do you apply a truckload of wax and gel to your sky high spikes? Wear sunglasses at night along with your baby sisters tank-top? Do the Factory 2-step dance with fellow juiceheads while throwing your empty d-bol bottles at the dj? Than leave the club looking like drugged death in your wasted $250 cockDiesel jeans while blasting Rich Luzzi's - Without U and thinking about how you just had the best night of your life...Thats priceless! And dont worry, we'll turn off our radio's but keep your crankin' full-force cause we like laughing at you clowns.

This has been going on in art since the beginning of time. There are the "insiders" and then the mainstream. I am happy to read this person's opinion. Thank goodness everyone isn't dumbed-down by mainstream radio.

I started checking out this style of music in 1989 while on tour in Europe. There was also a bit on NY radio late at night (at least when I was playing in the NY area). I predicted that it might become the next "mainstream" fad, but it didn't until much later. Of course once the Americans got a hold of it, much of it did become "cheddar".

I stopped listening around 1996. However just recently we got digital cable and I discovered the dance channel. And much of what is played on there is "cheese" IMO.

But it was a mix by Victor Dinaire (Future Progression Live 2003) that caught my ear. The music he plays is real deep. Anything but "cheese" IMO. Now I've been listening nonstop for 4 days trying to catch another playing of the Dinaire mix. During that time I've heard alot of "cheese" and a reasonable amount of high-quality stuff.

As a professional musician, I can simply say that it comes down to musicality, creativity, and experience. And most of the stuff I hear in the Dinaire mixes falls in the "good" category to me.

Thanks for providing this wonderful resource, and as a newbie if you want to tell me to STFU, I'll receive it with a humble spirit!

Gemini, Learn to read between the lines. Than you'll understand the depiction I made involves more than just spikey hair.
