I'm sure there are even churches in Georgia that will marry gays (at least in Atlanta).

This is why it's so stupid that the state denies marriage rights, when so many churches are ahead of the curve!:) :p

lol that didn't make any sense at all! but if that's the case you will probably have gay marriages legal soon :)

Ah I see. I had read on some religious right website that gay marriage was legal in Canada now. What ever happened to, "Thou shalt not bear false witness?"

I guess they don't believe in that one, and care more about "homo bashing."

:D

I was about to say I thought it should be up to individual states (gay marriage), but then I remembered Al Sharpton's speech the other week. He talked about how the "states rights" mantra was used to defend slavery, about how it was used to defend segregation, and about how it was used to defend denying a person the right to vote because of the color of their skin.

Now federalism has its place, but when it comes to human rights, it comes in second in terms of priority every time.

I doubt he can give you anything other than hateful rhetoric.

In which European countries are gay marriages legal?;)

Gay marriage itself is legal in two provinces (ontario and quebec, iirc), but it is not recognized federally here.

Gay marriage is legal in the Netherlands and Belgium, and perhaps some other european countries.

The fact of the matter is, science will probably find a way to replace natural childbirth sometime in the coming years (childbirth is dangerous for the mother and child, and basically immobilizes the woman for months), and stem cells should provide us with the ability to create sex cells from either gender with a lot of work. Once this happens, there are no biological reasons for why we should think of straight relationships any different than homosexual ones.

Aside from that, there are straight couples who have no children as well.

Gay couples can always adopt children as well, and it's not as if there aren't enough people already on this planet.

nice location btw

lol, so true.

this makes you kinda think about what is the purpose of marriage. Seems like the reasoning behind not letting gays marry is that tey cannot reproduce.

Hell, I don't need no stinkin marriage to pass on my bloodline, I can always knock up some whore from the bridge and tunnel posse.

what the hell ever happened to marrying out of love for another person....I guess it is a thing of the past.

You seem like an intelligent chap.

So, you don't 'see gays are ok'. That doesn't even make sense. In fact, the entire posts makes no sense. Why don't you actually try to justify your position instead of putting your foot in it like you just did.

Coherence -1.

Do you believe that gays and lesbians can actively change their sexuality? Do you think they are making a concious choice to be attracted to the opposite sex?

If not, then how can you justify your position? What exactly is wrong with gays anyhow? I've yet to hear one decent argument that backs up the classic 'well I don't agree with gays but if they want to be like that then it's ok' argument. I have heard some decent arguments against gay marriage (Specifically by Diginut in the political forum, whether I agreed with them, however, is another matter entirely :p), but never against civil unions, or 'the act' of being gay itself.

I'd really like for you to tell us why you hold the position that you do.
