What sequencer do you use? (pg. 3)

Reason is great but its huge problem is not being able to use plug-ins. You can send it to cubase/logic etc and have plug ins as well but i find that canes the processor, and makes editing difficult.

Rumour has it reason reduces sample quality to free up processor and I can believe it cos samples just dont sound as clear through reason as they do when generated from hardware or listened to on a wave player.

However I still use reason to do stuff to precussion then record it. If only scream 4 was available on VST mmmmmmmm *changes trousers*
Can anyone suggest a good distortion VST plug in? Im not too impressed lith cubase and logics own distortion mods..

And im not just choosing it cos just one bloke has told me to, I did only asked a few producers but still 100% logic all the way compared to the 5% it got here.
Who shall i believe? a poll of the pros or u....
thats a toughie

James Holden wrote Horizons entirely in Buzz. I mean no hardware used. Nathan Fake uses cubase, Flutlich uses FL, Airbase uses Reason and Cubase, Hans Zimmer uses Cubase, S.H.O.K.K. uses FL, Armin uses Reason 2.5, Alexander Kowalski uses Cubase, Radiohead's "There, there" was made in Nuendo, Andy Prinz uses Nuendo.

cluster: what do you mean you cant get a pro sound unless you use logic?? thats the funniest thing i have read ever
Cluster
True but none of the above make decent music ;)

Its just something ive noticed in my musical wanderings. Differnt seqencers handle samples slightly differently, not sure if it makes a difference on macs but PCs are pretty bad at handling music anyway.
It could be that Ive only got the right settings on logic..
I didnt want to learn logic, id have been happy with reason but I just couldnt get it to sound crisp and clear enough.
Well if u cant tell the difference then no matter, lets hope the record label u send ur tunes too cant either :)

But.. 4.5 is far better, especially with the new mixer.

no they don't. they had a midi keyboard + vaz heh. so much hardware.

Cluster, you really don't have a clue mate, ppl use what they use because it suits them, not what they are told to. From what I gather L-Vee produces nearly all with software now, doesn't mean he's e.

From what I’ve read online, most people seem to think that the Reason sequencer is a bit anally retentive, but I really like it! I try to do everything that I want to in Reason, but if not I’ll use Cubase.

No need to get offensive just because I express an opion based on personal experience you disagree on. I thought this place was about the free exchange of ideas and opinions not bitching at people you disagree with.
It was obviously a sweeping statement that ALL pros use logic, just what Ive found myself. If i expected everyone to agree with me I wouldnt have bothered posting in the first place.
'One of your points is innacurate' + random generic snub is hardly a valid reason to laugh at me, dub me ignorant and invalidate my entire discussion.
If you have a convincing argument as to why all sequencers are exactly equal in sound quality that doesnt involve an insult then lets hear it.

I think it's universally accepted that Pro Tools, not Logic, is the penultimate as far as sound quality goes. I know that's what Steve Porter uses solely, and it seems to work well for him.

This place is about an exchange about ideas.. except when your ideas are blatently wrong and stupid...
